Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
The Washington Department of Health has recognized that Washington's future is dependent on the health of our children. Governor Jay Inslee launched the "Healthiest Next Generation Initiative" to help make our next generation the healthiest ever. The Healthiest Next Generation Initiative is about helping our children maintain a healthy weight, enjoy active lives and eat well.
States that are making progress in improving the health of children have not found one solution; rather it is taking many solutions, by many people, in the places where children spend their time; in early learning settings, schools and communities. The Healthiest Next Generation Initiative is an opportunity for community organizations, businesses, state and local agencies and other partners to collaborate in support of children's health.
The areas of focus are in strategies creating healthy early learning settings. Schools and communities are centered on physical activity, healthy eating and breast-feeding.
* Physical activity: helping children to be active at least 60 minutes a day.
* Healthy eating: making sure children are well-fed, including having easy access to water.
* Breast-feeding: supporting breast-feeding-friendly places to encourage and promote breast-feeding.
