Editor’s note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.
Monday, March 23: A female county jail inmate expressed what corrections deputies described as “suicidal statements” including the sentiment of “wanting to put herself out of her misery” and was transferred to an observation cell.
A male inmate was “made to shower due to overwhelming odor.”
Someone painted crosses on and in a mobile home on property adjacent to Aspen Lane in the Hawk Creek area northwest of Davenport. Tires were also slashed.
Tuesday, March 24: Damage was reported to a fence and a vehicle after it went off the Harrington Tokio Road near the Lincoln-Adams county line. The driver reportedly was not injured.
No one was injured after a vehicle collided with a utility pole in the Odessa area. About $900 in damage was reported.
A Miles Creston Road resident reported the theft of items from their summer home.
A Grand Coulee man reported his vehicle and money from a debit card account had been stolen.
A Wilbur man was placed into custody after deputies and Wilbur Police responded to the 200 block of NE Cliff, where damage had been done inside a residence.
Deputies assisted Odessa Police in responding to a domestic malicious mischief incident in the 100 block of West 4th Avenue.
Wednesday, March 25: A Harrington woman choked on a piece of candy, cutting off her breathing for a brief time. The candy was dislodged before Harrington ambulance personnel could arrive at the scene in the 300 block of West Sherlock.
Wilbur Police responded to a report that two eighth grade girls left the local school without permission and hopped a shuttle to Grand Coulee.
Thursday, March 26: Reardan and Edwall emergency personnel responded to the 500 block of West Broadway in Reardan to assist a 77-year-old woman who may have suffered a stroke.
Responding to the 700 block of Fifth Street, Davenport ambulance personnel assisted a 58-year-old man having trouble breathing.
A Davenport woman received a call from someone claiming to be a Microsoft technician, advising her that her computer was infected with a virus that could be removed once she disclosed her credit card number.
Avista Utilities scheduled an overnight power outage affecting the entire Town of Odessa. A man called local police to ask whether it was legal to run a generator during the period.
A deputy and the Washington State Patrol were scheduled to remove explosives from a Seven Bays residence.
An armored vehicle driver reported seeing a man choking a woman, dressed only in underwear, at the US Bank parking lot in Reardan. Deputies placed the man into custody.
A Davenport woman reported she was verbally threatened.
Deputies investigated a possible illegal marijuana grow in the Wilbur area.
An Almira man reported receiving a check for insufficient funds.
A deputy investigated a report that a dog had bitten at least three people at PioneerPlaza and the Davenport city park. In a separate incident, a Davenport man described his dog as “vicious, becoming increasingly more aggressive” and said he had been bitten several times that day at his residence in the 100 block of Washington Street.
A motorist traveling U.S. 2 west from Reardan told dispatchers that his vehicle’s windshield was struck by a soft drink that the driver of a semi-truck had tossed from his window.
A Sprague caller reported an incident of reckless driving, resulting in loose gravel and dirt being scattered in the vicinity of the 300 block of North D Street.
Friday, March 27: Emergency personnel from Reardan and Edwall assisted a Reardan High School student reportedly having a seizure.
A Creston man reported a 3-wheeler scooter may have been stolen from a residence in the 200 block of NE E Street.
Two deputies responded to a possible dispute involving a man and personnel at the FamilyResource Center in Davenport.
A woman was cited for possessing marijuana during a traffic stop at Morgan and Ninth streets in Davenport.
Wilbur Police investigated a report of vandalism at the town park.
Saturday, March 28: A fuel truck got stuck in mud near the intersection of U.S. 2 and Tramm Road in the Reardan area.
Two dogs lost their lives in a house fire in the 300 block of North Oak in Reardan. The human occupants of the rented residence were not there at the time.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a one-vehicle rollover collision on SR 25 about four miles north of Davenport. Local ambulance personnel checked out the two occupants, one of whom was placed into custody for driving under the influence. The other was cited for violating the open container law.
A resident of the 500 block of North C Street in Sprague reported damage to his property from vehicles being driven on it.
Front-end damage was reported to a vehicle involved in a collision with a deer on U.S. 2 west of Davenport.
No one was reported hurt as a result of a two-vehicle collision on Brace Street near the Willows Motel in Wilbur.
Sunday, March 29: Reardan EMTs provided mutual aid requested by Spokane County at a residence on U.S. 2 just east of the Lincoln County line.
A 22-year-old man suffered burns to his face and hands after attempting to light a stove at a shop building adjacent to Rosman Road North in the Creston area. He was transported by Creston ambulance to the U.S. 2 Telford rest area and from there to a Spokane hospital by MedStar aerial ambulance.
A residence in the 300 block of North Birch in Reardan was evacuated due to a field fire to the east of the house.
A Davenport caller expressed concern about a vehicle being driven several times at high speeds through a large water puddle in the 1200 block of Second Street.

Amanda M. Gavin, 25, Wilbur, is charged with first- and second-degree criminal mistreatment in connection with incidents involving two boys (ages 1½ and 4 months) from Aug. 28, 2014, to Feb. 19 of this year – the most recent resulting in a broken femur suffered by the younger boy.
New Juvenile Offender Matter
A 16-year-old Keller boy is charged with second-degree taking a motor vehicle without permission in connection with the March 19 theft of a pickup truck from the Wilbur golf course. The vehicle later was recovered at Keller Ferry.

Brad McDowell seeks $7,500 of unpaid rent and utilities and restoration of the Bar 41 Ranch premises at 44500 SR 21N in Wilbur from respondents Mary Neumann and Marion Braun. All parties are Wilbur residents.
