At the Ezra Gordon Invite held in Colville Saturday, the Titan boys from Odessa-Harrington finished in seventh place with a team score of 44.83. The Titan girls placed sixth, and their team score was 37.66. This track and field meet included teams from 1B through 3A schools. Cheney, the only 2A entry, won both the boys' and girls' titles.
A total of 1,642 athletes participated, including 867 boys and 775 girls.
Boys' results
In the boys' 100-meter sprint, Sam Schafer was ninth with a time of 12 seconds flat. Odessa junior Sage Elder tied for 15th at 12.18 and freshman Gaven Elder tied for 18th place at 12.20.
In the 200 meters, Schafer finished in second place with a time of 24.12, and sophomore Cole Kissler was 27th in 26.58.
In the 400 meters, sophomore John DeWulf was 29th in 1:01.72.
Tyler Paris ran the 800 meters in 2:30.50 for 25th place and the mile run in 5:40.15 for 37th place.
In the 110-meter hurdles, sophomore Aaron Gies captured third place in 18.18 seconds.
Three Titans ran the 300-meter hurdles, with DeWulf placing 14th in 48.46, Gies placing 20th in 51.44 and Kissler 22nd in 52.36.
The 4 x 100 relay team consisting of Schafer, S. Elder, G. Elder and Gies placed fifth in 46.76.
In the shot put, Connor Perry was 19th with a throw of 37-09.00. Colby Sooy finished at 48th, throwing 29-07.00 and James Mann 64th throwing 22-09.50.
Throwing the discus, Perry was 18th at 100-08, Sooy 32nd at 87-02 and Mann 44the at 77-01.
In the javelin, Sooy was 36th at 97-01, Kissler was 40th at 95-01 and Tyler Paris was 49th at 82-05.
The high jump competition had many athletes tying for the top spots. After a three-way tie for first and a four-way tie for fourth, Perry was in a with three-way tie for 8th at a height of 5-04.00.
In the pole vault, Kissler finished in a tie for 8th place at a height of 9-00.00.
The Titans finished one-two in the long jump with Schafer taking first in 19-05.50 and S. Elder second in 19-02.00. Gaven Elder was 22nd at 16-06.00.
DeWulf took second in the triple jump at 40-01.50.
Girls' results
The girls' team had some good competition from its neighboring schools, especially in the 100 metetrs. For O-H, Jordyn Tanke was in fifth place behind Berlyn Hunt of ACH (whose mother, Angie Gustafson Hunt, is an OHS grad) in third at 13.72 and Ritzville sisters Rachel and Kate Schell who finished second (13.60) and fourth (13.66), respectively. They are the granddaughters of the late Cecil Schell of Odessa and Judy Renner of Ritzville.
In the 200 meters, Tanke was second in 27.84. She also placed 11th in the 100-meter hurdles in 19.61, followed closely by Shelbey Watkins in 15th place in 20.40.
In the 300-meter hurdles, Watkins was eighth in 54.85.
The shot put had Jenna Shafer finishing 31st with a distance of 24-03.00 and Evie Mann 44th in 21-07.50.
In the discus, Casey Schlomer was 10the in 86-04, while freshman Evie Mann came in at 55th with 45-09.
Jenna Shafer took third in the javelin at 98-11, with Schlomer at 11th in 82-10 and Mann 50th at 45-01.
Lanessa Simon was third in the high jump at 4-10.00.
In the pole vault, Simon took fifth at 7-06.00, while Schlomer tied for eighth at 6-06.00.
Simon nabbed another third place in the long jump at 15-05.00. Hunt of ACH was fifth at 14-07.50. Tanke was seventh for the Titans at 14-02.00, and Watkins was 15th at 12-07.50
In the triple jump, Simon was eighth at 31-01.00, while ACH's Hunt came in ninth at 30-09.00.
