Curriculum adoptions process open to public

The next Odessa School Curriculum Advisory Committee meeting will be on May 13, 2015, at 3 p.m. Proposals for new curriculum or program adoptions are presented at these meetings. Parents and interested community members are welcome to attend.

According to policy, adoptions are generated by the specialist in each subject or grade level area based on a rotation schedule. The teacher reviews various resources and then presents a proposal to the Curriculum Advisory Committee for further review. Accepted recommendations are forwarded to the school board for action. The agenda for these meetings is posted on the school website, http://www.odessa.wednet.edu prior to meetings. It is under the District tab with the subheading Curriculum Committee. The agenda will indicate if there are any considerations for adoption. Samples of the proposed materials are often available for perusal in the High School Curriculum Office.
