Monday, June 8: A caller told dispatchers that his signature had been forged on child support and divorce papers filed with the Superior Court.

Deputies investigated a report that a woman had been hit in the chest during a domestic violence incident in Creston.

A caller told dispatchers that four teenagers appeared to be moments away from jumping into traffic in the vicinity of Third Street and Fitness Lane in Davenport.

Tuesday, June 9: After hitting two moose on I-90 near Sprague, a vehicle rolled over and caught fire. Sprague firefighters were dispatched to the scene. No one was reported injured.

About $2,000 damage was sustained by a vehicle that drove through a fence and into a field adjacent to Addington Road just south of Reardan.

An 85-year-old man was transported to a hospital after feeling faint and dizzy while driving on SR 25 about 16 miles north of Davenport.

Responding to the 1200 block of Seventh Street in Davenport, a deputy assisted a 63-year-old man who was having trouble breathing.

A black Chevrolet was observed racing around Almira.

Deputies determined a Wilbur woman suffered bruising that may have been the result of domestic abuse.

Firefighters from Seven Bays and Davenport responded to a blaze at Rocky Top Estates. Inland Power and Light Co. was advised that a power pole had been burned as a result.

A Moses Lake caller reported being harassed by a woman he believes is prohibited by a court order from contacting him.

Deputies assisted Spokane Tribal authorities in responding to a domestic violence incident in the Ford area that resulted in the alleged victim receiving treatment at Lincoln Hospital in Davenport.

Three boys and a girl were observed playing with lighter fluid and igniting items on fire in downtown Harrington across from Harrington Foods.

An Odessa man told police that someone had kicked over a “No Motorcycles” sign he placed outside a residence on West 6th Avenue that he hoped would keep his house from getting dusty.

Wednesday, June 10: An Odessa man reported being contacted by someone claiming to be with the IRS who advised him of a lawsuit against him and requested he call a phone number that was provided. A woman received a similar call the next day.

A Davenport woman reported receiving a scam phone call from a carpet cleaner in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

An old Davenport Police Department uniform left at Lincoln County Care and Share was turned into the sheriff’s office.

A resident of the Little Falls Road area reported hearing gunshots between 4 and 5 a.m.

A loose dog prevented people from getting back into their cars at the Rickey’s Corner Mart gas station at U.S. 2 and SR 28 (Morgan and Twelfth streets) in Davenport.

A Tamarack Canyon Road property owner advised that someone was using a loader there to remove rocks without his permission.

Responding to the 900 block of Fifteenth Street in Davenport, local ambulance personnel assisted a man who may have overdosed on drugs after receiving distressing news about a relative’s health.

A Davenport woman requested assistance with a teenage son who refused to go to school and behaved poorly.

A Davenport woman told deputies she discovered chains that had been placed on the brake line of her pickup truck.

A collision involving a vehicle and deer took place on SR 21 near Keller Ferry.

Deputies assisted a state brand inspector with his investigation of possible neglect of cattle in the Reardan area.

A caller reported that the driver of a passing vehicle made threats and pointed a pistol at his face while both traveled on Tyler and Waukon roads near Reardan.

Deputies investigated the theft of money and the ransacking of a vehicle located at Riffe and McRae roads near Reardan.

Damage to the exterior of a house on Buckhorn Road in Deer Meadows was reported as a result of a fire that was believed to have started in a bin of rags being used to stain a deck.

Thursday, June 11: Responding to the 100 block of NE Anne Street in Wilbur, deputies investigated a report of a domestic assault, during which a woman apparently was hit by a man’s fist and a purse and cell phone were taken from her.

Corrections officers dealt with a county jail inmate who was smashing his face into a door several times and had used soap to write what appeared to be a suicide note on the door and window of a cell.

A Davenport man applying for jobs on craigslist said after he was “hired as a personal assistant,” he received a cashier’s check for $2,490 and was instructed to cash it, keep $400 and pay off his “employer’s” bills. Suspecting a scam, a responding deputy advised the man not to cash the check.

A vehicle went off Bluestem Road near Deking and got stuck in a ditch, requiring a tow truck to get it out.

Deputies investigated a Harrington man’s claim that a vehicle had spun brodies and damaged property in the 200 block of North Second.

Friday, June 12: Responding to the 500 block of Spring Street, Davenport ambulance personnel assisted a 79-year-old man experiencing pain in his chest and under his arms.

Two older teen girls reported being accosted by a man who drove onto a sidewalk in the 200 block of NW Cole in Wilbur and repeatedly yelled at them to get into his vehicle. They told deputies that they ran as quickly as they could to tell their mother about the experience. The man was described as being in his 50s, of “bigger build,” bald and tanned.

A deputy determined that the music volume at the Relay for Life event at the Davenport football field was at “an acceptable level for that time of day” after a woman called dispatchers and complained that the noise was “louder than ever,” preventing her from talking with visitors in her front yard.

A downed phone line was reported in front of a residence on SR 23 near Sprague.

A Mondovi area resident told dispatchers someone had left behind a boat and trailer in his yard.

Responding to a report of an erratic driver traveling eastbound from Wilbur on U.S. 2, a deputy pulled over the vehicle at the Telford rest area and determined that the man behind the wheel was ill.

A caller reported a red Mustang had driven up and down Porcupine Bay Road at speeds of more than 85 mph.

National Park Service personnel handled a narcotics report at Spring Canyon campground.

Saturday, June 13: A Harrington woman reported receiving a call from “an Arab person” advising her she had a virus.

Firefighters from Davenport, Seven Bays and Deer Meadows responded to an out-of-control burn in the vicinity of Miles Creston and Seven Bays roads. Two deputies were sent to handle traffic control there for a short period.

Davenport and Egypt fire crews handled a field fire on Egypt Loop that apparently was started by a swather.

Dialing 911, a man told dispatchers that “the politicians have threatened to take (his) life for the price of the cars in (his) driveway.”

Sprague ambulance personnel assisted a 33-year-old man experiencing anxiety issues.

McGregor Co. personnel in Davenport contained an ammonia leak that a caller reported to deputies.

A Sprague motel operator asked for assistance in determining the identities of customers who left without paying for their lodging.

A woman suffered apparent back and neck injuries after a one-vehicle collision on U.S. 2 near Wilbur.

Lincoln Hospital personnel in Davenport treated a 41-year-old Davenport woman who was bitten on the head by her pet Doberman.

An Almira man reported he narrowly escaped being attacked by a dog in the neighborhood.

A Wilbur woman told dispatchers that a white pickup truck had followed her around town and that its driver left the vehicle to follow her around a local gas station.

Reardan Police assisted a resident of the 130 block of Railroad with an unwanted person.

Sunday, June 14: Deputies encountered a man who had passed out inside a vehicle parked along U.S. 2 near Davenport. Alcohol may have been involved. The man was placed into custody.

A pickup truck left U.S. 2 near the weigh scales west of Reardan and took out some fencing and a road sign.

Two motorcyclists drove away from Trader’s Express in Davenport without paying for $13.70 of gas.

A caller reported that a man got out of a parked vehicle on SR 25 about four miles north of Davenport and shot at a deer from the roadway.

Criminal Sentencing

Jesus Alberto Castaneda, 21, of Omak, Wash., pleaded guilty June 2 to second-degree theft (amended through plea negotiations from second-degree burglary). His sentence included 60 days jail (credit for time served and electronic home monitoring permitted for the final 30 days), $800 court costs and restitution to be determined. He also will be released on July 1 to attend college. The charge involves damage to a door of a building at the Wilbur Cemetery on Nov. 24, 2014, and the siphoning of gasoline from a vehicle inside.

Civil Judgment

An abstract of a May 28 judgment from Douglas County Superior Court awarding $956.50 from Deborah A. and Anthony S. Latimer to the petitioner, Olympic Credit Service, Inc., of Wenatchee, was filed with the Lincoln County court.

New Criminal Case

Guy Nelson, 48, of Creston, is charged with possession of methamphetamine in connection with a Feb. 17 traffic stop on Sterling Valley Road and his subsequent arrest for possessing a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle. During the booking process at the county jail, correction officers discovered what appeared to be a controlled substance on his person.
