Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
It has come to the attention of The Record that the newspaper and other types of mail and packages sometimes get misdirected. If any subscribers have had this happen, they know how annoying it can be. Most folks who find misdirected mail in their boxes return it to the postmaster who then corrects the error. Others, however, sometimes just toss out what does not belong to them or keep it for themselves.
A postal patron recently told of having ordered an item through one of the large mail-order companies. It is possible that the notification about the package and the key to box it was in was put into the wrong mailbox. If so, the item was taken and not returned to the post office. This means that the person has lost the item and the money that went to pay for it – not a happy situation for them.
Please respect your neighbors and fellow townspeople and return misdirected mail to the postmaster as soon as it becomes apparent that a mistake was made.
