The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

Monday, July 20: Three callers observed a man walking along Interstate 90 near Sprague carrying a guitar case.

Odessa firefighters responded to a fire in a summer fallow field adjacent to Fink Road about two miles east of Batum Road.

A 43-year-old Sprague man was arrested and taken to jail in Davenport after deputies responded to a domestic violence assault involving two men and a woman at a residence in the vicinity of 2nd and H streets in Sprague.

Odessa Police responded to a report that an alley near the 300 block of South Division had been blocked as part of a dispute.

Tuesday, July 21: Emergency medical personnel from Reardan, Edwall and Davenport assisted an Edwall man who lost consciousness after being stung by a bee.

A caller reported seeing an abandoned baby moose in a yard adjacent to Gravelle Road near Davenport.

Davenport ambulance personnel assisted a woman who fell while leaving Davenport Family Dentistry.

Several reports of vehicle prowling came from Sprague. In one, a Sprague woman reported finding a door and trunk open on her vehicle parked in the 100 block of West Alder. Another caller reported prescription drugs and a case of cola had been removed from a car in the 200 block of West 2nd Street. Other incidents occurred in the 300 and 400 blocks of West 2nd Street, with $3 reported missing from a wallet, and in the 200 block of West Poplar.

An Edwall woman told dispatchers someone had attempted to enter a residence on Oregon Street. A window screen had been removed and grass below it appeared to be smashed down.

Requesting additional patrols, an Odessa caller advised that property along Kellum Road may be a favorite of kids for weekend partying.

A Harrington man reported losing a gun from a backpack while riding a motorcycle from Auburn, Wash., to Harrington.

Deputies responded to a loud dispute at a residence in the 300 block of Washington Street in Davenport.

A caller advised of a trespasser consistently crossing through property adjacent to Mondovi Road North to get to another property.

An Almira area woman reported being shoved during an alleged dispute with a family member.

Wilbur Police checked out a report of several children in the bed of a pickup truck traveling west through a construction zone on U.S. 2.

Wilbur Police investigated phone, text and Facebook threats involving local residents.

Reardan Police responded to a woman’s claim that she had been harassed over the past year.

Wednesday, July 22: A county jail inmate tucked a pack of cigarettes under his armpit but corrections deputies foiled his attempt to keep the contraband.

After telling dispatchers he discovered an electric chopsaw in a ditch adjacent to SR 25 north of Davenport, a caller brought it to the sheriff’s office for safekeeping.

Avista Utilities personnel reported the theft of about 4,800 feet of copper wire on Fox Road about a half mile south of U.S. 2. Whoever took it was described as “lucky” since the primary line involved had been de-energized, otherwise he/she/they could have been killed. The wire was valued at about $3,150.

Three adults and a 5-month-old boy were killed in a collision involving the car in which they were traveling and an eastbound semi-truck on U.S. 2 near the Telford rest area about 13 miles west of Davenport at about 6 p.m. The westbound car crossed the center line and hit the truck head-on. The highway was completely blocked for several hours. A detour was set up on Miles Creston Road and SR 25. The driver of the truck was treated at Lincoln Hospital.

A Wilbur woman reported two boys in their late teens were targets of harassment from other young people.

Between $70 and $90 of the town’s “snack money” was reported taken from the Odessa pool.

Odessa Police responded to a dispute over signs requesting people not to travel through and damage property in the 200 block of Fourth Street. The signs were moved, replaced and subsequently destroyed.

Thursday, July 23: A “T-intersection” warning sign was stolen from where it had been placed at Swanson School and Seven Springs roads.

A 78-year-old woman who fell and suffered a laceration to her mouth was taken to Lincoln Hospital by Harrington ambulance personnel.

Wilbur ambulance personnel, firefighters and MedStar air ambulance responded to the scene of a one-vehicle rollover collision on U.S. 2 just west of town, where the driver was initially trapped inside her car.

She was transported to a Spokane hospital and driving under the influence charges were pending with the Washington State Patrol.

Someone kicked open and broke a garage door on property along Miles Creston Road near Davenport.

Personnel at Mick’s Auto in Davenport reported a vehicle was taken without permission and involved in a collision.

No injuries were reported after a vehicle slid off the road at U.S. 2 and Miles Creston Road.

Residents on Corbett Draw Road near Almira requested law enforcement assistance with unwanted persons they had asked to leave.

A Davenport woman advised dispatchers of harassment on Facebook.

A Davenport caller shared her concern about a friend who had told her of plans to take his own life by driving into another vehicle at high speed.

Wilbur Police responded to reports of threats made against a teenager and his girlfriend.

Wilbur firefighters extinguished a bark on fire in the 100 block of SE Pope Avenue.

Friday, July 24: A caller observed someone texting while driving east on I-90 in the Sprague area.

A draft horse was loose on SR 21 near the Adams County line.

Sprague ambulance personnel assisted a Sprague man who fell from a ladder and may have suffered a broken leg and lacerations.

A Wilbur man reported the theft of about 40 gallons of gas siphoned from a vehicle parked near Kunz and Hanson Harbor roads.

After calling Omaha Steaks and told that its product is shipped, not sold on the street, a Davenport woman expressed concern that someone was driving around in a red pickup truck selling meat packaged in a black box. She said family members had purchased two boxes for $100.

A woman reported prescription medicine and about $100 in coins were stolen from a residence on Pineridge Drive near Davenport.

Deputies responded to the Coulee Dam Credit Union’s Creston branch after a robbery was reported there. A man wearing a ski mask got away with cash in a pickup truck, discovered to have been stolen from the Pasco area. It was set on fire and abandoned near U.S. 2 and Telford Road. The suspect is believed to have used another vehicle to complete his getaway. Using patrol cars and a plane to check several county roads, private property and buildings in the area, deputies also notified other banks along the U.S. 2 corridor and neighboring county and tribal entities of the situation. The burned pickup truck was towed to the sheriff’s office in Davenport.

A Jump Canyon area man told dispatchers someone posing as his grandson “who was in an accident” may have defrauded him of about $2,000 and attempted to get more in a subsequent phone call.

A truck with an open gate spilled out grain while traveling on U.S. 2 at the west end of Creston.

A deputy reported the light bar on his patrol vehicle was damaged by a turkey strike on Miles Creston and Underwood Canyon roads.

A Davenport caller reported someone spraying water on her property in the 400 block of Adams Street and rusting a boat and chairs.

About 15 individuals were believed involved in shooting from Miller Ranch Road towards the docks at Fishtrap Resort. Rounds were reported hitting a rock cliff near the docks.

Reardan Police investigated the theft of a car dolly from the 300 block of Aspen Street.

Saturday, July 25: A small fire in a car engine was reported at the Studebaker Garage in Harrington.

Reardan and Edwall firefighters were advised of an unattended burn barrel on property adjacent to Bald Ridge Road.

A Sterling Valley Road resident reported finding indications that 4-wheelers were driven past a locked gate to a house, then “raced through” the property.

A hay wagon with a blown tire was found along U.S. 2 just west of Davenport.

A Davenport woman phoned in her concern that someone may be prowling in the 200 block of Washington Street in the middle of the night after a resident reported hearing someone walking on dried leaves.

Deputies and Wilbur Police responded to a “juvenile problem” involving a runaway boy, his mother, girlfriend and residences in Wilbur and Almira.

National Park Service personnel were unable to find a fire in a controlled burn pit at Spring Canyon campground that a caller feared would turn into a larger blaze.

A-Plus Auto in Almira reported a vehicle fire inside its building in the 300 block of Main Street. Almira and Hartline firefighters initially responded and Avista Utilities personnel were summoned to deal with live electrical lines inside. Two individuals were treated at Lincoln Hospital in Davenport for dehydration and smoke inhalation.

A woman was placed into custody after deputies and Wilbur Police responded to a report that a vehicle was “all over the roadway” on U.S. 2 and had come close to rear-ending a Wilbur fire vehicle.

Searching the Duck Lake Road area a mile west of Leaser Road, deputies unsuccessfully attempted to locate a man whose girlfriend had described as possibly suicidal.

An Oregon man went to jail after a caller reported a vehicle traveling in the opposite lane on SR 174 northwest of Wilbur.

Firefighters from Wilbur, Odessa and Creston were unable to locate a fire reported near the Wheatridge Elevators and SR 21.

A Reardan woman told local police of her suspicions about several electronic items placed in her residence and garage by a family member who claims these were given to him by other people.

National Park Service personnel responded to a report of alcohol being provided to minors at a Fort Spokane campsite.

Sunday, July 26: A deputy investigated reports of trespassing on property adjacent to Johns Rocky Way northwest of Davenport.

A Sprague man reported the theft of fishing gear from a truck and garage in the 200 block of F Street.

Deputies responded to a report of individuals yelling at each other in the 300 block of Washington Street in Davenport. An item on fire in the front yard was extinguished.

A resident on Porcupine Bay Road reported someone drove up her driveway, threw 16-ounce beer cans from the vehicle, then turned around and headed quickly towards SR 25.

Investigators from the state Department of Natural Resources checked out three or four suspicious fires on property adjacent to U.S. 2 east of Davenport. Flames consumed about 250 juniper trees, part of a natural snowfence that has been growing there over the past several years. Deputies noticed no vehicles sending out sparks while traveling west on the highway. Firefighters from Davenport and Reardan also responded.

A caller reported a vehicle consistently traveling at high speeds, spinning tires and throwing rocks in the vicinity of D and Oak streets in Sprague.

Deputies checked out a report of a verbal dispute between two women in the 1000 block of Thirteenth Street in Davenport.

Civil Judgment

A six-month protection order requested by Barbara Ann Fletcher against Thomas James Murdock will be in effect through Dec. 21. The two Davenport residents are not allowed to be in the same place simultaneously, but he was permitted access to the family home (her exclusive residence) in the 200 block of Ninth Street at certain hours while she isn’t there.

New Criminal Cases

Joseph Alan Fliehman, 32, of Creston, is charged with second-degree possession of stolen property and first-degree trafficking in stolen property in connection with the theft of a chainsaw and other items in late June or early July from property on Redwine Canyon Road. He was released to family members in Kirkland, Wash., after posting bond.

Roger Lee Page, 55, of Davenport, is charged with residential burglary, first-degree theft, first-degree possession of stolen property and second-degree malicious mischief in connection with a July 17 incident involving the taking of about $5,390 worth of electronic, construction and camping equipment, a generator and other items, and about $1,100 damage to the front door of a cabin on Johns Rocky Way.

Alexander Michael Vanzandt, 25, is charged with second-degree possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm in connection with a July 18 traffic stop on SR 231 near Crescent Road north of Reardan.

New Civil Case

In an unlawful detainer matter, US Bank seeks possession of property at 31998 Hawk Creek Ranch Road North, Davenport, from Lyle M. Gullard, who was issued a notice to vacate on June 23, almost a year after the petitioner had purchased the property at a foreclosure sale in August 2014.
