The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.
Monday, Aug. 17: An ambulance was sent to a residence on Aviator Lane in Grand Coulee for a man in his 90s with a medical issue.
Wilbur ambulance personnel assisted a woman experiencing dizziness.
A deputy responded to the vicinity of Twelfth and Adams streets in Davenport for a verbal domestic dispute.
A traffic collision was reported on SR 231 north of Reardan.
Sprague firefighters and ambulance personnel responded to a diesel spill reported at the Sprague Chevron on South Colfax Street.
Two vehicles with Canadian license plates were observed driving recklessly and passing in restricted zones on U.S. 2 east of Creston.
Prompted by a caller who said she had been “followed and harassed” by a vehicle since leaving Spokane, a deputy met up with the vehicles involved on SR 174 near Spring Canyon Road.
Tuesday, Aug. 18: A caller advised of a scam received on his cell phone advising him he won a free night’s stay through Expedia or Marriott Hotels – if he’d “push 1 to accept” the offer. A deputy reported receiving a similar call on his cell phone as well.
Deputies investigated negligent driving incidents that occurred in the 400 block of Tenth Street in Davenport.
Deputies investigated a verbal threat allegedly made by an inmate in the county jail against Creston’s mayor.
A caller reported suspicious activity near the Devils Gap Road substation north of Reardan.
A Harrington woman reported fraudulent transactions on her debit card.
A collision involving a vehicle and deer took place on SR 28 near Odessa.
Reardan Police responded to the 400 block of North Laurel where a domestic assault reportedly occurred after a man was bitten by a pitbull dog.
Wednesday, Aug. 19: Responding to the U.S. 2 Telford rest area, Creston firefighters checked out a report of a possible chemical spill from a tanker truck.
Reardan-Edwall emergency and Davenport ambulance personnel responded to Reardan’s US Bank branch where a 55-year-old woman experienced chest pains.
A vehicle crashed through fencing on property adjacent to Devils Gap Road East.
Local corrections deputies were advised that the ongoing wildfires had forced evacuation of the Colville Tribal jail. Eleven of those inmates were temporarily housed in the Davenport jail for several days.
Authorities in Wellpinit considered evacuating residents from that fire zone to Davenport High School.
A bicycle, greenish-blue in color with a torn seat and a loose rear axle, was reported missing from the 1000 block of Ninth Street in Davenport.
Deputies stopped a vehicle in front of the Davenport Safeway store after it had been observed being recklessly driven on U.S. 2 west from Ziemer Road, speeding, cutting off several other vehicles and forcing drivers to hit their brakes.
A caller advised dispatchers of a white Chevrolet pickup truck that traveled at speeds of 90 to 100 mph in a 25 zone south of Seven Bays on Miles Creston Road.
A Reardan property owner advised local police of threatening emails he received after evicting tenants from a residence in the 300 block of East Broadway.
Thursday, Aug. 20: A pickup truck traveling too fast went off Jump Canyon Road North near Creston and into a dry creek bed.
While checking a foreclosed home on Tramm Road North near Reardan, a caller discovered two cats and three kittens that appeared to have been abandoned and left to die.
An Edwall woman suffered bruises after being pushed and hit during an incident involving a disabled adult man living in the residence.
A bag with a “suspicious substance” and a pipe inside was discovered at a residence on Northpoint Court in Seven Bays.
Two county jail inmates were believed to be involved in a harassment incident in the facility.
A man asked Reardan Police for assistance in locating his 33-year-old son who hadn’t been seen at his workplace for almost a week.
Friday, Aug. 21: National Park Service personnel readied Porcupine Bay and Keller Ferry campgrounds for possible use by evacuees from area wildfires.
Corrections deputies responded when an inmate advised them that another housed in the county jail fell to the floor of the day room. The man was found breathing, but otherwise unresponsive, possibly as a result of a seizure. He eventually was examined at Lincoln Hospital in Davenport.
Deputies investigated a domestic assault, possibly sexually motivated, that occurred in Lincoln County at the Fort Spokane boat launch. Consumption of alcohol and marijuana is believed to be associated with the incident.
Ambulance personnel responded to the Corner Café in Creston to assist an older man who eventually was taken to a local hospital after describing himself and circumstances as “a veteran who hadn’t eaten in awhile and was out of gas.”
Harrington ambulance personnel assisted a man who inhaled chemicals, possibly from a nearby vapor-leaking anhydrous ammonia pump, while removing a car from a building at Adams and Sherlock streets.
While being transported from the Lincoln County Jail to its Adams County counterpart, an inmate kicked windows out of an Adams County police vehicle. He was returned to a cell in Davenport to await another police vehicle from Ritzville. A Lincoln County deputy provided an escort back to the county line.
A woman was arrested for domestic assault after deputies responded to a residence at Main and Thirteenth streets in Davenport, where a loud argument had been reported.
Responding to a littering complaint, a deputy made a traffic stop at the intersection of SR 28 and Deking Road south of Davenport to discuss the matter with the driver.
A deputy advised the owners of an occupied motor home in the 800 block of Maxwell Street in Davenport that to have someone living there violated a city ordinance. If the situation remains the same in two weeks, the deputy promised a citation would be issued.
A Bisson Road resident discovered 12 cows in his front yard.
Odessa Police investigated a hit-and-run collision that caused damage to a vehicle parked in the 500 block of South Alder Street.
Saturday, Aug. 22: Sprague ambulance personnel transported a 75-year-old man to a Spokane hospital after he fell at the local Chevron station.
Almira firefighters worked a field fire on less than an acre about two miles south on Kiner Road.
Reports of smoke just south of Odessa turned out to be a dust devil.
Lincoln Hospital personnel treated a 6-year-old child who suffered a concussion.
A helmet was reported missing after a young bicyclist left it outside Davenport Family Foods while shopping.
Deputies investigated threats that a Sprague man claims were made against him.
Deputies arrested a man on suspicion of driving under the influence after stopping a pickup truck in the Lincoln County Fairgrounds parking lot.
Homeowners on Quail Run Road in Deer Meadows were advised to extinguish a propane-fueled campfire because all open flames are currently illegal.
Deputies placed a man into custody for driving under the influence after a caller reported a man was driving on property adjacent to Johns Rocky Way near Davenport, screaming at him and making threats against him.
A caller reported medication had been stolen from a stroller while at the Lincoln County Fair in Davenport.
Sunday, Aug. 23: A vehicle was demolished after hitting a deer at the Interstate 90 Sprague exit.
Sprague firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle ablaze on Interstate 90.
Sprague ambulance transported an Interstate 90 motorist experiencing extreme stomach pain from the fire/emergency center to a Spokane hospital.
Deputies investigated a narcotics incident in the Edwall area.
Three deputies responded to a residence in the 300 block of North Third Street in Harrington after receiving reports of a verbal dispute involving family members.
Deputies searched for possibly intoxicated juveniles after learning that a pickup truck traveling at high speeds had gone into a ditch at the intersection of Moore and Tamarack Canyon roads northwest of Reardan.
A caller reported two trucks traveling Seven Mile and Crystal Springs roads at high speeds.
Deputies responded to a report of an argument between an 18-year-old man and a young woman at a residence on Redwine Canyon Road.
Thirty-five cows owned by a man whose wife was in the process of giving birth were reported out on Johnson Road just west of SR 174.

Civil Judgments
Jonathon Luke Gullard (LG Painting and Sons), of Davenport, must pay $1,237.54 in tax obligations to the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.
The court on Aug. 19 denied a request by Barbara Rae Nielsen and Jerald Kay Nielsen for a domestic violence temporary protection order against SheriLynn Nielsen, who had received no notification of the action.
At the request of the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries, the court reconsidered and amended its July 14 judgment to award $1,796.75 from former sheriff’s deputy Jesse Allen to cover the state’s costs for transcripts of depositions used during a jury trial he requested in appealing the state’s denial of industrial insurance benefits. This brings the total financial judgment against him to $2,121.75. The six jurors who heard the matter unanimously upheld the state’s determination.

Claiming negligence by Lindsey L. Barajas, of Post Falls, Idaho, the driver of a vehicle involved in an Aug. 19, 2012, rollover collision on U.S. 2, petitioner Courtney M. Hayes, also of Post Falls, seeks compensation for injuries she suffered while a passenger in the vehicle, which left the roadway and came to rest in an adjacent field. Also named as respondents are the driver’s parents, Antonio and Karen Barajas.
