INCIDENT LOG
Editor’s note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.
Monday, Aug. 24: Harrington ambulance personnel assisted an elderly woman who may have suffered a stroke.
Davenport ambulance personnel joined Reardan EMTs in responding to the 100 block of Maple in Reardan where a paraplegic man had suffered cuts to his chest and abdomen. He was transported to a Spokane hospital.
An ambulance was dispatched for an 8-year-old boy who suffered a possible concussion and a laceration on his cheek.
A saw hidden next to a commercial building at Fourth and Jefferson streets in Davenport was recovered by deputies.
A dog owner was cited after a caller advised the “vicious” animal had chased a young boy in the 1100 block of Jefferson Street in Davenport.
Sparks were seen as a result of an axle on a U-Haul trailer touching pavement as it traveled through Wilbur on U.S. 2. A similar report involving the same trailer was phoned in from the Reardan area, where deputies and local firefighters searched for, but luckily didn’t find, any possible spot fires along SR 231 north to Little Falls Dam.
Tuesday, Aug. 25: Odessa firefighters doused a railroad tie fire near Nemo and Coyote Heights roads, where train traffic was interrupted for a short time.
A Harrington resident became suspicious after opening his door to someone asking about his satisfaction with satellite television service. After calling his provider and learning that no one had been sent there, he advised law enforcement.
A woman reported the theft of several items, including her purse and its contents, from a vehicle while in the vicinity of Riffe and Old Williams roads.
At Main and Alder in Wilbur, local police intercepted a vehicle that had been traveling east from Almira on U.S. 2 at speeds of more than 80 mph.
Wednesday, Aug. 26: A collision involving a pickup truck and deer was reported at Landt and Nye roads northwest of Reardan.
Deputies were asked to assist with an unwanted person at a residence on Paradise Lane North in the Lincoln area.
A Sprague caller advised of a “suspicious” man he saw wandering around for a few hours and lying on the ground on the sidewalk in the 200 block of East 4th.
Thursday, Aug. 27: A man was observed sleeping under a bench at the Sprague I-90 rest area.
Corrections deputies had to deal with three male inmates engaged in a verbal altercation in the county jail.
A Davenport woman reported the theft of more than $700 from her bank account, forcing her to cancel debit cards associated with it.
Deputies checked out a possible drug incident at the Davenport city park.
Considering himself “suicidal” and “not making good decisions,” a Davenport man requested deputies remove firearms from his residence.
Residents in the 500 block of Marshall Street in Davenport expressed concern about a loose dog and a confrontation between neighbors on the matter.
A window was reported broken out at the Davenport Masonic Temple in the 900 block of Morgan Street.
A caller reported observing a man and woman begging for money at the Sprague I-90 rest area. The next day, a similar report originated from K&L Chevron.
Odessa firefighters were unable to locate a brush fire that had been reported along SR 28 about a half mile east of Odessa.
Deputies joined Reardan Police in responding to a possible domestic dispute at a residence in the 100 block of North Maple Street.
A caller reported reckless driving had occurred on SE Pope Street in Wilbur.
National Park Service officers investigated reports of threats made against them.
National Park Service officers assisted occupants of a boat that experienced loss of power and ended up stranded on Lake Roosevelt about two miles upstream from Lincoln.
Friday, Aug. 28: Davenport firefighters responded to the Black Bear Motel where a possible gas leak had been reported. An ambulance also was sent on behalf of a 40-year-old man who was feeling ill.
A resident on Nye Road northwest of Reardan reported a bear had gotten into a refrigerator on his porch and also knocked over a dumpster.
Reardan EMTs and Davenport ambulance personnel assisted an elderly woman with breathing difficulties in the 400 block of East Broadway in Reardan. She was transported to a Spokane hospital.
Lincoln Hospital personnel treated a 30-year-old man suffering shortness of breath and chest pains.
A Sprague caller reported that someone attempted to steal about $3,000 worth of welding leads from a trailer parked in the 300 block of East 1st Street.
A responding deputy determined that what was leaking from a large truck traveling in the vicinity of SR 28 and Bluestem Road north of Harrington was water (from a fire truck).
Alcohol is believed involved in a one-vehicle collision with a guardrail on SR 25 about nine miles north of Davenport.
Responding to the Devils Gap area north of Reardan, a deputy dealt with two men involved in a verbal dispute over whether one was trespassing on the other’s property. The deputy determined a violation hadn’t occurred.
A Wilbur woman told dispatchers that someone had been taking items without permission from property adjacent to SR 21 North.
An inmate was believed responsible for damage to a mirror in the county jail.
A deputy responded to a report that the gas tank cap was removed from a Sprague High School student’s vehicle while parked at the school and that a white substance (perhaps sugar) was found nearby and may have been poured into the tank. He determined that the reporting party’s concern was unfounded.
Deputies handled a runaway juvenile incident in the Sprague area.
Reardan Police investigated a man’s report of an incident involving fraud.
Saturday, Aug. 29: Sprague ambulance personnel assisted a woman injured in a one-vehicle collision on I-90.
Firefighters from Wilbur, Creston, Davenport and Harrington responded to a field fire that came within 50 feet of a residence on Telford Road.
A caller advised dispatchers that Batum Road near Odessa was “nearly impassable” and suggested authorities close it. A responding deputy determined there was “one bad spot” near Fink Road, but that Batum should remain open.
A large tree fell over Indian Creek Road North, forcing traffic to travel one vehicle at a time past it.
Three boys, including one not wearing a helmet, were observed racing up and down Redwine Canyon Road throughout the better part of the day. A responding deputy told one of the boys about the complaints.
An Edwall man expressed concern about a resident of Sassin Station Road hitting rocks while mowing and possibly causing a fire.
A Sprague caller advised of a 2½-year-old girl running unsupervised in the 400 block of West 1st Street.
Reardan Police investigated a report that children had been inappropriately touched.
A resident of the 300 block of East Columbia told Reardan Police about noise in the neighborhood being so loud that she couldn’t even hear her TV.
Sunday, Aug. 30: Wilbur ambulance personnel transported an 83-year-old woman from Almira to Lincoln Hospital in Davenport after she experienced chest pains.
Responding to property adjacent to Fitness Lane, Davenport firefighters battled a fire on a power pole that expanded to nearby grass and a transformer.
A collision involving a vehicle and deer took place on SR 25 about nine miles north of Davenport. Another occurred seven miles up the road in the Egypt area.

JP Morgan Chase Bank, the petitioner, won a $223,645.73 default foreclosure judgment against Anthony and Jami Hamilton involving an April 2007 promissory note for property at 36260 Western Pines Drive in Davenport. The premises have been vacated since the lawsuit was filed in August of last year.
A transcript of an April 2014 judgment from Lincoln County District Court awarding $624.93 from Rod Schmidt, of Edwall, to petitioner Associated Credit Service, Inc., was filed with the Superior Court.
New Criminal Case
Jimmy Lynn Gilmore, Jr., 41, Airway Heights, is charged with second-degree assault (domestic violence) in connection with an Aug. 8 incident at Porcupine Bay campground that resulted in a woman suffering a fractured right nasal bone and other injuries, according to the charging document in the court file. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor. A responding deputy wrote that despite knowing the alleged victim for several years, he initially did not recognize her due to the extent of her injury. A no-contact order was put into place by the court, which set bond at $50,000.
