INCIDENT LOG

Editor’s note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and

emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report

possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

Monday, Aug. 31: Responding to the 1300 block of Logan Street, Davenport ambulance personnel

transported a 59-year-old woman who was suffering shortness of breath to Lincoln Hospital.

Odessa ambulance personnel transported an 83-year-old woman experiencing chest pains to Odessa

Memorial Hospital.

Two county jail inmates got into an argument over a bag of chips that neither was entitled to have.

Deputies unsuccessfully tried to locate a runaway 16-year-old Davenport boy reported missing by his

mother. Three days later, he was detained on a court warrant and transported to the Martin Hall juvenile

facility in Medical Lake.

Deputies stopped a gold Ford Taurus at the intersection of U.S. 2 and Ziemer Road east of Davenport after

being observed swerving, crossing the center line and almost colliding with oncoming traffic.

Deputies investigated “suspicious” activity in the vicinity of Third and Main streets in Davenport.

Property owners on Hawk Creek Road North northwest of Davenport told dispatchers they were confronted

by someone in uniform identifying himself with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife who threatened

to arrest or fine them for spraying weeds to comply with a letter from the county Noxious Weed Board.

A Sprague resident reported the theft of four wheels valued at $200 from a driveway in the 400 block of

West 2nd Street. A wire feed welder valued at $500 also was reported missing.

Someone was observed throwing a lit cigarette from the window of a vehicle traveling east on U.S. 2 from

Creston. Deputies stopped the vehicle at the Rocklyn Road intersection.

Deputies investigated a possible dispute involving a man and woman in the 200 block of South 1st Street in

Creston.

A Davenport woman requested help with a spill of stove oil in a basement in the 600 block of Eleventh

Street.

Tuesday, Sept. 1: A residence on Devils Gap Road north of Reardan was evacuated as firefighters from

Reardan and Stevens County battled a field fire that posed a threat to the house and its occupants.

Stop signs were tagged with spray paint on Brace Street at its intersections with Cliff and Cole in Wilbur. A

nearby business’ loading dock had “thug” painted on it.

Wednesday, Sept. 2: Wind caught a gate and set off an alarm at Buddy Boy Farms on Angels Landing

Road North.

The driver of a truck and boat trailer that jackknifed near the intersection of SR 174 and Bagdad Road had

suffered a heart attack, causing the crash. He was treated at Coulee Community Hospital in Grand Coulee.

A Sprague school bus was forced by a semi-truck pulling a cattle trailer into grassy area along SR 231 to

avoid a collision.

A vehicle missed a corner and ended up in a ditch near the intersection of Swanson Lake and Runkle roads.

A deputy suggested the wind may be a factor in why a Lamona resident’s livestock keep getting out,

leading to several citations against her.

Personnel at Davenport Auto Parts became suspicious after a man visited the store and attempted to sell for

$15 each truck batteries that should retail at $120.

A caller reported her dog was attacked by a Wilbur man’s dog before it bit the man, who was subsequently

treated at Lincoln Hospital in Davenport. The incident took place in the vicinity of County and Airport

roads near Wilbur.

Thursday, Sept. 3: An 18-year-old Sprague man fell asleep and crashed the vehicle he was driving into a

field adjacent to SR 231. He was not injured.

Firewood was reported stolen from a residence in the 300 block of SE F Street in Creston.

Responding to the 200 block of West 2nd Avenue, Odessa Police dealt with a verbal dispute between a man

and woman. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor.

Friday, Sept. 4: Two women bicyclists camping near the Davenport Water Park asked that sprinklers be

shut off because their sleep was disturbed.

A dog got into a chicken coop on property adjacent to Addington Road near Reardan and killed its

occupants.

A responding deputy warned a man against having an illegal campfire at the intersection of Highpoint

Court and Skyview Place in Lincoln.

MedStar air ambulance assisted Reardan EMTs in dealing with a senior football player who suffered a head

injury.

A woman in her 90s was transported to Lincoln Hospital after falling at her residence in the 1100 block of

Third Street in Davenport.

Odessa Police found a missing first grader who didn’t board the school bus to return home but instead went

to her grandparents’ residence.

Saturday, Sept. 5: A deputy responded to a verbal dispute between neighbors on Little Falls Road north of

Reardan concerning where a truck should be properly parked.

Deputies and Wilbur Police responded to a hit-and-run collision near the Billy Burger restaurant in the 800

block of SE Main.

A Creston resident reported the theft of firearms from a residence in the 200 block of Anderson Street that

had been trashed.

A man was placed into custody after deputies responded to a report that a mirror on a pickup truck had

been punched out while parked in the 1100 block of Ninth Street in Davenport.

Wilbur Police investigated the theft of a drawer from a built-in cabinet in the 100 block of SE Regent.

At the request of National Park Service personnel, firefighters from Wilbur responded to a 29-foot boat that

had caught fire before being beached near Hanson Harbor and Jones Bay.

A caller expressed concern about two individuals who hadn’t returned from boating from the Seven Bays

launch. The boaters eventually returned safely.

Sunday, Sept. 6: Creston and Wilbur EMTs assisted an 89-year-old man who may have suffered a heart

attack.

Sprague ambulance personnel assisted a 75-year-old woman who fell and may have suffered a head injury

at a residence on Sprague Lake Resort Road.

Deputies found two lost children, a 6-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl, who had been playing in a wheat

field adjacent to U.S. 2 about two miles east of Davenport after a search that also involved several

neighbors in the area.

A Wilbur caller told local police that a man continuously drives by a residence in the 700 block of SE

Railroad Avenue, “revs his engine and honking his horn.”

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a domestic dispute involving a man and woman in the 400 block of

NW Dellah Street.

Deputies assisted National Park Service personnel in successfully persuading a group of campers to

extinguish a large fire at Spring Canyon campground.
