WSECU announced it has awarded a college scholarship to Odessa resident, Carsen Weber. Weber will attend the University of Washington in the fall. He received a $2,500 scholarship.
“Covering the cost of higher education is a real challenge for many members,” said Ann Flannigan, Vice President of Public Relations. “Yet we know that a college degree is one of the best investments one can make for future financial stability. That’s why since 1987 WSECU has offered this important program to help our members earn that diploma.”
The scholarship is just one of 29 awarded by the credit union this year. In total, WSECU provided $64,500 in higher education support to 29 credit union members. The selections are made by an employee and member committee and are based on an evaluation of academic record, financial need, community involvement and a written essay. Applications for the 2016 WSECU college scholarships will be available December 14 of this year. Go to http://www.wsecu.org.
