William R. Nixon went to Heaven on September 24, 2015. He was born January 27, 1947 in Wenatchee to parents Arthur and Wanda Nixon. The family moved to Chewelah when he was five. He lived there until he graduated from Jenkins High School in 1965.
After high school Bill served three years in the Army, doing one tour of duty in Vietnam. After getting out of the service he married Leora Percell in April of 1969.
In May 1969, he went to work in Odessa for Western States Equipment Company fixing caterpillar farm tractors for nearly 42 years. After retiring in 2009, he went to work doing what he loved – farming.
Bill was a lifetime member of The Veterans of Foreign War Post #7395. He served 13 years as post commander and several years as District 13 quartermaster.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Wanda Nixon, a son Scott Nixon, a daughter Kari Nixon and his sister Barbara Ott.
Bill is survived by his wife Leora at the home; son David (Cassie) Nixon of Odessa; daughter Tiffany (Kris) Hosking of Post Falls, Idaho; sisters Lorena (Lawrence) Guyll of Wenatchee, Judy (Tim) Tennant of New Mexico and brother Ron (Wanda) of Athol, Idaho. He also leaves behind four grandchildren: Emily Nixon, Charlie Nixon, Aaron Nixon and William Hosking.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, October 2, at 11 a.m. at Heritage Church in Odessa. Military burial services will be held at a later date at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, Wash.
