Bohnet family reunion held at Wilson Creek

A reunion of Fred Bohnet, Sr.'s descendants was held Saturday, September 26, at the Wilson Creek School Commons. The reunion was hosted by Doris Bohnet Jasman and Kathy Bohnet. Nearly 100 attended. Some traveled from California and Nevada to attend. There were 11 children in the family who grew up on the farm in the Ruff area: Zelamia, Albert, Fredrick Jr., Ted, Rebecca, Sophie, Tressa, Martha, Julia, Hanna and Esther. The parents, Fredrick and Rosina, later moved to Odessa. Three children and a nephew died on the ship on the way to America from Russia.

Zelamia Bohnet Winter was the only child who survived the trip, but 10 children were born after they arrived. Albert was born in Canada and the other eight were born in the Odessa area. Ted Bohnet was injured as a child and sustained brain damage and never married. Decendants of Albert Bohnet, Fred Bohnet Jr., Sophie Bohnet Schillen, Tressa Bohnet Philbrick, Hanna Bohnet Trupp and Julia Bohnet Witt were in attendance.

There were four generations of Bohnets in attendance.

It was a joy for the many generations to get acquainted and reacquainted.
