There is a misconception about the Lincoln County Fair and its funding. The fair is funded by a few different sources. The first is the Department of Agriculture, which supplies approximately $32,000 (the money that is up for review every two years). Additional funding of $25,000 comes from our own county. The rest comes from winter vehicle storage, off-season events, signs purchased, wristbands and entry to the fair. The Lincoln County Fair Advisory Board struggles yearly to put on a good fair with limited funds.
A non-profit group, The Friends of Lincoln County Fair, was created to assist the Lincoln County Fair Advisory Board in promoting a safe family atmosphere at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds. The group participates in fundraising to promote the fair and fairgrounds and to make the fairgrounds a success during the fair and as a year-round facility.
Money that is allocated to the fair is used for upkeep of the buildings and grounds, insurance and utilities. The Friends of Lincoln County Fair was established to help purchase new items needed on the grounds and for beautification projects.
The Friends of Lincoln County Fair invite you to join in the benefit dinner and silent auction at the fairgrounds on Saturday, December 5 beginning at 4:30 p.m.
