Dent appointed to board

Rep. Tom Dent, R-Moses Lake, has been appointed to the Washington State Horse Park Authority board by Dan Hoch, Director of the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission. The 112-acre horse park is located in Cle Elum and serves the recreational, competitive and educational needs of riders and horse enthusiasts in all disciplines, age groups and skill levels.

“The horse industry is a growing and important part of our state’s economy and culture,” said Dent. “I truly believe the outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man and am excited to bring a unique perspective due to my extensive experience with horses, including in rodeo. I am honored to be appointed to the board, and look forward to collaborating with my colleagues to help the Authority achieve its goals.”

The legislature established the Washington State Horse Park Authority in 1995. It is responsible for developing, promoting, operating, managing and maintaining the horse park in Cle Elum. Its board is composed of 11 members who represent different equestrian disciplines, activities and professions that support the development and operational needs of the park.

Dent will finish a three-year term on the board that will end March 2016.
