Don't fall for rampant scams

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office and Royal City Police are investigating three complaints of fraudulent phone calls from an 800 number. The caller claims to be from the Grant PUD and requests the person called immediately send money or have their power shut off. Today’s victims were three churches in south Grant County, one in Schawana, two in Royal City. None of the churches sent money; rather, they called the police.

Clearly these calls are a scam. If you receive a call from anyone demanding money, ask them for a call back number so you can verify the call is legitimate. When officers calle...
