The Odessa Record and the Odessa Chamber of Commerce want to remind holiday travelers from Odessa to stop by The Record and pick up a bundle or a handful of copies of This Is Odessa, our local visitors’ guide to take along on their trip. It has been a long-standing tradition that Odessa folks traveling elsewhere for business or pleasure have taken this publication with them to leave in restaurants, hotels/motels and visitor centers along their travel routes.
Some of the issues are mailed to various locations throughout the state, but the personal touch is still needed. So if you or someone you know is traveling out of town for the holidays, please have them visit The Record before they head out.
Local citizens can thereby help the Chamber’s efforts to promote our community, its amenities and its surroundings. The publication includes information on Deutschesfest, Spring Fling and other major events. It also focuses on the beauty of the surrounding Channeled Scablands, which are becoming a real tourist attraction. Recent efforts by the Odessa High School FLBA chapter under the guidance of Chris Shafer of the Bureau of Land Management have led to trail improvements, new signs and more benches for resting tired legs at the Odessa Craters located just north of town.
