Titan teams get first wins of new basketball season

Both the girls and boys Titan varsity teams broke even this past weekend, each losing to Valley Christian and winning against Columbia/Hunters.

The Lady Titans lost by four points in overtime to Valley Christian Friday, December 11 in Spokane Valley. The final score was 36-40.

Katie DeWulf led all scorers with 16 points. DeWulf also had four steals, two rebounds and an assist, followed closely by Lanessa Simon with 15 points, 16 rebounds, three assists and a steal. Kassidy Crossley had four points, 12 rebounds, and two steals. Amber Smith scored one point, three rebounds, two assists and a steal, and Casey Schlomer had eight rebounds and two steals.

With 16 points and nine steals, Simon helped lead the Titans to a 52-17 win over Columbia/Hunters in the second game of the weekend on Saturday, December 12.

Simon’s nine steals were just a part of 20 total steals OH had for the evening. Simon also had five rebounds and five assists. DeWulf scored 10 points and had four rebounds, one assist and three steals. Schlomer had eight points, a rebound and a steal. Tash Sheldon had six points, seven rebounds, an assist and three steals. Crossley scored five points, had five rebounds and a steal. Smith had four points, three rebounds two assists and three steals, Brenna Carstensen two points, four rebounds, one assist and Evie Mann one point and five rebounds.

The OH boys varsity team led by two at the half, but Valley Christian knuckled down in the third quarter, scoring a last minute three-pointer. The final score was 40-53

Colton Hunt led the Titans in points with 12, he also had two rebounds and one assist, a steal and a block. Jayd Jennings had 11 points, a rebound and two assists. Dylan Shockley scored nine points, had two rebounds and steals, plus an assist. John DeWulf scored six points, had 15 rebounds and five blocks.

Hunt led the Titan boys to a 60-38 victory over Columbia/Hunters with a total of 21 points scored in the Saturday, December 12, game. Hunt also had four rebounds and an assist. DeWulf scored 14 points and had eight rebounds, two assists and a steal. Shockley had 12 points, an assist and four steals, followed by Jennings with nine points, one rebound and three steals.
