Richard Laney

Richard (Dick) Laney was born February 18, 1928 in Spokane, the second child born to Joe and Margaret Laney. He made heaven his home on December 15, 2015.

In 1933 the family moved to Lamona, to the family ranch. He spent a short time as a cook in the army, including a tour to Okinawa, Japan. He left the army to return to the family ranch. He spent 50 years of his life raising a family, living, loving, working, playing and owning and operating Cloverleaf Dairy, the ranch.

He retired from the ranch in 1987 and moved to town. He had a smile and kind word for anyone who crossed his path. His greatest pleasure was helping others. It didn’t matter if it was feeding cattle, delivering papers or giving someone a ride to wherever they needed to go.

Awaiting him in heaven were his mother and father, Joe and Margaret, and his sister and brother-in-law Betty and Duane Hemmerling.

He is survived by his son Richard (Bud) Laney, Jr. of Altus, Okla., his daughter Shelly Dillard and her husband David of Odessa, four grandchildren and spouses and seven great-grandchildren.

A life celebration for Dick will be held in the spring.
