The Odessa Public Library, in a partnership with Big Bend Community College, is sponsoring a series of six workshops to teach basic computer skills.
Beginning Wednesday, January 20, the first class will be an introduction class to the parts of the computer and how they are used; Wednesday, January 27, will be a class on keyboarding; Wednesday, February 3, will be an introduction to the Internet; Wednesday, February 10, will be an introduction to email; Wednesday, February 17, will be a workshop on Microsoft Word programs; Wednesday, February 24, will be an introduction to Excel spreadsheets.
If you would like to learn more about your computer and how it works, and how you can better use it in your home, you are invited to attend all six classes or choose the classes that best suit your technology needs.
These are hands-on classes, with laptop computers provided by BBCC. There is no cost to the participants and everyone is welcome to attend. The classes will be held at the Odessa Public Library, 21 E. First Avenue, each Wednesday at 4 p.m. Class size is limited to six students. With the assistance of two Title V grants, and staff services from WA Campus Compact, Big Bend Community College has increased access to instruction and support in rural and isolated areas within the BBCC service district at community knowledge centers.
