Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
On February 4, 2016, students from Odessa High School in the vocational/ag classes and members of the Odessa FFA chapter went to the FFA Ag Expo at the Spokane Convention Center to learn about potential agricultural opportunities. They heard Washington state FFA officers speak about upcoming events such as FFA week (the last weekend in February) and the FFA state convention (to be held in May in Pullman).
Guest speakers were the famous YouTube sensation, Peterson Farm Bros., who talked about their agricultural experiences and told how a college assignment on how to get your story out to educate others led to the contemporary parodies sung by the three brothers from Kansas, as they shared their stories of farm life.
Afterward, students could go see the many booths and technologies of different agriculture businesses and organizations. Students were given an assignment to take selfies of farm gadgets that were new to them, the most unusual ag-related item they saw and of themselves with any of the morning speakers from the FFA program. Many of the pictures are posted on the Odessa FFA facebook page.
Ag students attending the Ag Expo/FFA day were Hunter Bramer, Max Greenwalt, Ben Melgren, Hannah Sheldon, Patrick Valverde, Jordan Ford, Colton Melgren, Rochelle Schuh, Parker Valverde, Megan Shafer, Kiegan Wehr, Caleb McNeil, Paige Smith, Natosha Boss, Josie Westmorland, Caleb Singer, Anna Renee Bockman, Kaitlyn Zagelow, Destiny Costlow-German, Isabelle Buford and FFA advisor Diane Baye.
