The February 9 special election held in Lincoln County saw the school and hospital levies in Odessa and Harrington pass by comfortable margins.
Of the 5,823 registered voters in 40 precincts, 3,107 had returned ballots by February 12 when the last count was tabulated for a voter turnout of 53.36 percent. The election will be certified on February 19.
Odessa School District 105’s Proposition 1 (Replacement Maintenance and Operation Levy) passed within Lincoln County by 323 to 114 votes or 73.91 to 20.09 percent. When the few voters from Adams and Grant Counties are included, the votes were 337 to 131 in favor or 72.01 to 27.99 percent.
Proposition 2 (Replacement Capital Levy for School Improvements) also passed by about the same amounts. Of those who voted in Lincoln County, 324 voted yes to 112 voting no or 74.31 to 25.69 percent. Voters in Adams and Grant Counties brought the number to 338 to 129 or 72.38 to 27.62 percent.
Harrington School District 204’s Proposition 1 (Replacement Maintenance and Operation Levy) also passed by a wide margin, 192 to 65 votes or 74.71 to 25.29 percent.
Public Hospital District 1’s Proposition 1 (Replacement of Expiring One-Year Operation and Maintenance Levy) passed handily as 436 voters said yes to only 90 opposed for a total of 82.89 to 17.11 percent.
Reardan-Edwall School District 009’s Proposition 1 (Bonds to Renovate School Facilities) passed by 862 votes to 505 or 63.06 to 36.94 percent.
Creston School District 073’s Proposition 1 (Replacement Maintenance and Operation Levy) was a close contest but 265 voters said yes compared to 206 who said no or 56.26 to 43.74 percent.
Wilbur School District 200’s Proposition 1 (Replacement Maintenance and Operation Levy - $695,000) passed by 306 to 190 votes or 61.69 to 38.31 percent.
Davenport School District 207’s Proposition 1 (Replacement Maintenance and Operation Levy) passed by 563 to 307 votes or 64.71 to 35.29 percent.
Ritzville School District 067’s Proposition No. 1 (Replacement Maintenance and Operation Levy) passed by 563 to 260 votes in Lincoln and Adams Counties or 68.41 to 31.59 percent.
Ritzville’s Proposition No. 2 (Bonds to Modernize, Improve and Construct School Facilities) was rejected by voters in a nearly tie vote, 406 voting yes to 408 voting no or 49.88 to 50.12 percent.
Wilson Creek School District 202’s Proposition No. 1 (Replacement Maintenance and Operation Levy) passed by 100 to 36 total votes in Lincoln and Grant Counties or 73.53 to 26.47 percent.
