Titan girls break even during district playoffs

The Titan girls took home a win and a loss during district 1B playoffs February 10 and 13.

Coming back from the half against visiting Cusick, the Titans found themselves down by one point (20-19), but they managed to hold the Panthers to 21 points in the third and fourth quarters while netting themselves an additional 33 points, giving them a 12-point win and a final score of 41-52.

Lanessa Simon led the ladies to victory, racking up 24 points and contributing four rebounds, two assists, seven steals and a block. Maleah Davison scored 14 points and had eight rebounds, an assist and three steals. Katie DeWulf had 10 points, eight rebounds, an assist and three steals. Amber Smith scored four points, including a bucket from beyond the three-point line and a free throw, plus an assist and four steals. Casey Schlomer pulled down 10 rebounds.

On Saturday, the girls played the Republic Tigers and lost by 27 points.

Simon and DeWulf each scored six points, with Simon adding seven rebounds, two assists and three steals and DeWulf four rebounds, two assists, eight steals and a block. Davison followed close on their heels with five points, three rebounds and two steals. Kassidy Crossley contributed four points, three rebounds and a steal, while Schlomer put up two points and added six rebounds and three steals.

Next up, the Titan girls were to take on Valley Christian at Deer Park High School February 17 at 7:30 p.m.
