The winning streak for the Titan girls basketball team continued when they played the Valley Christian Panthers in Deer Park Wednesday, February 17.
Both teams were on fire, as the lead went back and forth during all four quarters with no more than four points between them at any given moment. By the end of the first quarter the score was 17-15 in favor of Valley Christian. Going into the half the girls were up by one with a score of 23-24. By the end of the third quarter, the Titans were up by two and managed to bear down in the fourth and hold the Panthers to nine points while netting eight of their own, making the final score 43-44 and giving the Titans the one-point victory.

Maleah Davison led the Titans with a double-double, netting 16 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. She also added an assist, a steal and a block. Lanessa Simon tallied 10 points, eight rebounds, two assists, five steals and a block. Katie DeWulf and Amber Smith each had eight points, with DeWulf also getting nine rebounds, six assists, three steals and a block, while six of Smith’s eight points came from three-point range and she also added four rebounds and a block. Casey Schlomer had two points, an incredible 20 rebounds and an assist.
Saturday, February 20, theTitans played the Selkirk Rangers, also in Deer Park, and saw their road to the regional playoffs come to an end. The Rangers beat them by only five points, and the final score was 39-44.

Lanessa Simon led the team, earning 15 points for the Titans, also getting three rebounds, two assists and five steals. She was followed by Maleah Davidson who netted 11 of her own, also contributing five rebounds and a steal. Katie DeWulf had five points, 13 rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block. Casey Schlomer had four points and eight rebounds. Kassidy Crossley and Brenna Carstensen had two points apiece, with Crossley also having three rebounds.
Selkirk player Jenna Couch, one of the Ranger’s leading scorers, found herself out of the game and in the Urgent Care clinic with a chipped tooth and broken nose when an OH player fell on her during the second quarter. She was able to return in the fourth quarter to help take her team to victory.
