Police chief resigns

Odessa police chief Helen Coubra handed in her two week’s notice to the town council Monday night at the regularly scheduled council meeting. Mayor Lois Hubbard appeared stunned, as she had apparently no warning that such a step was coming. When council members queried Coubra about reasons for her resignation, she said she was ready to try something new in her life, things she had been wanting to do that her job as a police officer left no time for. She said she planned to remain a resident of Odessa.
