Editor’s note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.
Monday, May 23: Dispatchers took another report of an IRS scam incident from a Davenport resident.
Executing a search warrant at a residence in the 1000 block of Thirteenth Street in Davenport, deputies investigated an alleged incident involving fraud.
A collision involving a vehicle and deer took place on SR 25 about four miles north of Davenport.
City of Harrington personnel notified deputies after discovering two gas cans and a backpack near the Harrington Truck and Auto shop.
A caller reported items stolen from a job site on Fowler Drive in the Spring Canyon area.
Deputies investigated a report of stolen mail and packages in the Sprague area.
Wilbur Police investigated a report that someone seemed to be living inside what was supposed to be an unoccupied house on South Raymond.
Tuesday, May 24: Anticipating having to deal with a suicidal individual, deputies and other emergency personnel responded to a residence on East Cougar Ridge Road north of Reardan after learning someone had posted a photo of a man’s arm with bleeding occurring from a deep cut, along with an apologetic message. They eventually caught up with the man who proceeded to drive a vehicle over a cliff, requiring them to launch a rescue operation that required a helicopter ambulance from Spokane.
Two men stole beer and a hat before leaving Rickey Corner Mart in Davenport in a pickup truck heading east on U.S. 2. Observing one of the men knocking over beer inside the store, a customer picked up on signals from the clerk and phoned the sheriff’s office.
Wilbur Police checked out a report that teenagers were driving back and forth at high speeds in front of the Bell RV Park.
Reardan Police investigated threats made against a 14-year-old girl at school.
Wednesday, May 25: A black bird attacked people outside Lincoln Hospital in Davenport.
Sprague ambulance personnel assisted a local man who reported having chest pains and anxiety.
Responding to the Hawk Creek Estates area, Davenport ambulance personnel assisted a 63-year-old woman with a dislocated shoulder.
A deputy responded to a report from Odessa of a bad check written for a $9,000 purchase of a 5th-wheel trailer.
A Davenport caller requested that deputies tell people not to park in front of “old ladies’ houses” in the vicinity of Sixth and Maxwell streets.
A caller advised that three large batteries valued at about $500 were taken from a tractor on property adjacent to Douglas Road.
A Harrington area caller reported getting suspicious calls about a building permit and possible credit card fraud.
Someone drove on a lawn adjacent to Rainbow Street in Seven Bays, breaking a sprinkler head that resulted in a washout.
A Creston School student reported her phone stolen from a school bus.
Wilbur Police investigated a possible sex-related offense.
Thursday, May 26: Dispatchers took a call from another resident reporting an IRS scam call that threatened litigation.
Town of Reardan personnel advised dispatchers that a Civil War reenactment participant in costume and carrying a fake gun had permission to pitch a tent and camp in the public park before heading to Deep Creek for the weekend event.
Responding to a residence north of Reardan, Davenport ambulance personnel and Reardan EMTs assisted a woman who was described as extremely dizzy and weak.
Dispatchers were advised of a possible dispute between two individuals about property adjacent to Geostar Drive in the Grand Coulee area. The caller said someone had put up a road barrier.
A Sprague caller reported that someone broke into a vehicle and may have attempted to steal a tractor in the 500 block of West Alder.
A man was arrested after deputies and local police responded to a report that a woman had been hit with a stick at a SW Alder Street residence in Wilbur.
Deputies and Odessa ambulance personnel responded to report of a 14-year-old boy experiencing depression and possible suicidal behavior. He was located, taken to the local hospital and referred to mental health personnel.
Friday, May 27: Firefighters in Davenport and Odessa doused separate brush fires. A lightning strike was believed responsible for a fire near Porcupine Bay Estates. The other blaze was in the vicinity of SR 28 and Irby Road.
A caller alerted dispatchers of the possibility that a young driver who hadn’t completed a full six months of intermediate status may be illegally operating a vehicle with teens standing up through the sunroof in the Davenport and Reardan area.
A man went outside his residence in the 60 block of Washington Street in Davenport and discovered a loose pit bull running with his dogs. After trapping the dog in his garage, he called the sheriff’s office.
Saturday, May 28: Reardan EMTs and Davenport ambulance personnel assisted a Reardan area woman who had fallen.
A caller’s report of finding an injured bald eagle in the Sprague area was forwarded to the state Department of Fish and Wildlife.
A vehicle was disabled after hitting a deer on Miles Creston Road near Prairie Lane.
A stop sign was broken off at the intersection of Seventh and Marshall streets, across from Davenport High School.
Deputies responded to a report of underage drinking at the Spring Canyon campground, but found everyone involved was within the legal age to consume alcohol.
A resident of the Cayuse Cove area reported gunshots were fired and that a bullet went over her head and another into a building.
Odessa Police investigated a report of a dead body at 4th Avenue and 2nd Street and found it to be false.
Reardan Police took a report of a stolen vehicle from a resident of the 300 block of North Lake Street.
Sunday, May 29: Two deputies contacted a man wearing camo pants and a white T-shirt walking down U.S. 2 near Davenport and learned that the vehicle he and two other individuals were in had stopped while they argued with each other.
A deputy responded to a trespassing incident on property adjacent to Hawk Creek Ranch Road north of Davenport.
A caller expressed her concern about two trucks and a passenger car that traveled down Winterwood Lane where “nobody is supposed to be.”
National Park Service personnel responded to a report that about 230 pills had been stolen from a vehicle parked at the Spring Canyon campground.
A jet-skier needed help when the vehicle’s battery went dead while out on Lake Roosevelt across from the Spring Canyon campground.
