The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.
Monday, June 6: A Mondovi area resident described a man looking into the windows of a house from a patio.
A woman was observed sleeping in a running vehicle parked at the U.S. 2 Telford rest area.
A deputy intervened after receiving a report that a woman refused to allow her adult son to take snowmobiles from a unit at Flatlanders Storage north of Davenport and accused him of trying to run her over with a truck.
Leaving SR 28 near Odessa, a vehicle collided with a fence.
A Davenport Elementary student’s grandparents phoned in their concern when she didn’t return home from school. Two deputies started a search, but were unable to locate her. The girl showed up for school the following day.
A caller reported a man climbed on her rented recreational vehicle parked at Foster and C streets in Creston.
Tuesday, June 7: A state Fish and Wildlife officer was advised that a baby hawk had fallen from a tree near Edwall.
Someone stole pills meant for a dog from a mailbox on Shortcut Place East in Lincoln.
A Sprague woman told dispatchers that her Verizon email account had been compromised and the password changed, adding that her son received a message in her name (but not from her) asking for $5,000 to be sent to a provided link.
Deputies placed a woman in custody after responding to a report of trespassing at a residence in the 1000 block of Twelfth Street in Davenport.
A Sprague woman was arrested after deputies responded to the 500 block of West 2nd Street to begin an investigation into a garage break-in and the unauthorized removal of items inside.
A leaky valve was responsible for an ammonia odor originating from Crop Production Services at Ninth and Adams streets in Davenport.
A caller reported that a man and woman with a small child were yelling at each other while walking on Park Street in Davenport.
A corrections deputy noticed a water jug on an indoor recreation table at the county jail that appeared to be under a great deal of pressure and ready to explode. A mixture of fruit and bread began to flow from it. A review of a video feed resulted in the discovery of possible suspects from the jail population.
A caller told National Park Service personnel that a man she saw dumping garbage on a beach in the Spring Canyon area became “agitated and screamed at” her before she phoned dispatchers.
Wednesday, June 8: Lightning may have been responsible for a field fire near Williams Lake Road and the railroad crossing. Sprague firefighters were dispatched to the scene. A similar incident was reported near Coffeepot and Deer Lake roads, to which Odessa firefighters were sent.
Creston firefighters responded to a field fire on Creston Butte just south of Houger Road.
Davenport firefighters battled a lightning-caused blaze on a hill near Lakeview Road in Seven Bays.
Odessa firefighters also responded to a four-acre fire just northwest of the Odessa cemetery, believed caused by a lightning strike.
Davenport firefighters responded to the 400 block of Maxwell Street where a natural gas alarm had gone off.
A Harrington school bus driver reported someone illegally traveled through her bus stop sign at Third and Main streets.
A deputy advised a resident of the 300 block of Main Street in Davenport against having a fire in a burn barrel.
Law enforcement officers took an individual into custody after responding to a report from Odessa Memorial Hospital that its personnel were treating a domestic assault victim.
A deputy assisted in a situation involving a teenage girl described as “hysterical” because her family was moving from Grand Coulee and she would have to leave her boyfriend behind.
Thursday, June 9: A Sprague woman reported vandalism at her residence in the 500 block of West 2nd that left a backyard pool “slashed,” a garden “trampled” and a bedroom “destroyed.”
No one was reported hurt after a tractor-trailer vehicle and a van collided at the intersection of U.S. 2 (Morgan Street) and SR 28 (Twelfth Street) in Davenport. The truck driver told dispatchers that while making a turn, the van pulled up next to him in his turning radius and got hit.
A Burlington Northern Santa Fe train struck and may have killed several cattle near the intersection of Waukon and Fancher roads in the Edwall area.
Reardan Police investigated the reported theft of flowers from the Reardan cemetery.
National Park Service personnel requested assistance from a Davenport ambulance crew after a 73-year-old man who works as a seasonal employee became extremely weak and began vomiting.
Friday, June 10: Responding to an Oregon Street residence, Edwall and Reardan emergency personnel, along with a Davenport ambulance crew, assisted a woman who had fallen and was reported to be in and out of consciousness.
Odessa firefighters responded to a report of a down power line at Batum Road and the missile site.
A county resident reported getting a fraudulent IRS phone call.
Two “aggressive” drivers were reported heading west on U.S. 2 from Deep Creek at high speeds and making poor passes.
Deputies checked out a report of a man setting up camp in a gravel pit adjacent to Miles Creston Road.
A deputy responded to an altercation reported between a man and woman at a residence adjacent to SR 231 north of Reardan.
Three deputies responded to a report of a fight involving at least two women and a man at the intersection of 2nd and G streets in Sprague.
Odessa Police investigated a trespassing incident in the 500 block of South Birch Street.
Saturday, June 11: Reardan EMTs supplied mutual aid to Spokane County firefighters assisting a possible suicidal individual at a residence on North Coulee Hite Road.
Sprague ambulance personnel tended to an elderly woman believed hurt in a collision involving a vehicle and deer on Interstate 90.
Another collision involving a vehicle and deer took place on SR 23 near Platter Road in the Sprague area.
A rollover collision left a vehicle on its top in a field adjacent to Cloverdale Road about a half-mile east of Black Road in the Edwall area.
Sunday, June 12: A caller said she saw a deer run across SR 231 near Reardan with an arrow in its shoulder.
A Davenport man said he received a collection notice for $7,000 in the mail and wondered if he had become a victim of identity theft.
A caller reported seeing a man urinating on the west side of R&I Trucking in Davenport. When confronted by the caller, the man became rude and left the area.
A large amount of sagebrush or debris was reportedly blocking one lane of SR 174 about two miles outside Wilbur.
A caller phoned in his concern about a teenage boy who appeared to be intoxicated and was attempting to flag down vehicles in the vicinity of Morgan and Fourth streets in Davenport.
An apartment manager told dispatchers that an intoxicated female tenant was “causing trouble” in the 1300 block of Logan Street in Davenport.
A Davenport woman told dispatchers of her concern that a U.S. Census worker had come to her door in the 200 block of Sinclair Street for the second time in a week. The man left an envelope and requested a phone call from her.
A Harrington woman said that while outside doing yard work, she believed someone went through her purse inside her residence in the 300 block of South Second, removing a wallet, checkbook, an unknown amount of cash and possibly car keys from it.
A caller expressed concern about a man he found lying face down in the grass at the Reardan town park. Windows in the man’s vehicle appeared to be broken out as well.

Criminal Sentencing
Aaron Arthur Dechand, 38, Edwall, pleaded guilty June 7 to 13 counts of second-degree theft and attempting to elude a police vehicle. In a plea agreement combining two separate cases, prosecutors withdrew charges of second-degree identity theft, second-degree vehicle prowling (2 counts), first-degree malicious mischief, reckless endangerment and third-degree theft. He must serve 25½ months in prison and pay $1,822 in court assessments. He also must pay restitution of $1,780 to a Spokane woman whose credit cards, jewelry, cameras, cash and other personal items were taken from a vehicle parked near Riffe and Old Williams roads while she completed a job-related task on Aug. 25, 2015. He also must pay restitution of $3,568.02 to Avista Utilities and $16.50 to a Davenport man in connection with the Sept. 12, 2015, eluding incident on and around Moore Road, SR 231 and Long Lake Road that began with the theft of a gas can and two batteries from a 1977 International flatbed truck and developed into a 23-minute, 25-mile high-speed pursuit that concluded in Stevens County when Dechand, the driver, hit spike strips, went into a ditch and fled on foot into nearby trees, stopping only after jumping over a barbed wire fence. He and a female passenger were apprehended and taken to the Lincoln County Jail. Between phases of the chase, after his patrol car had almost been rammed, the pursuing deputy ordered the suspect from his vehicle with his service weapon drawn, but the vehicle managed to speed away from the vicinity of Long Lake Dam, taking out a gate that remained lodged underneath the vehicle until the pursuit concluded.

Jonathon L. Gullard, doing business as LG Painting and Sons, Davenport, must pay $7,929.04 in taxes owed from May 1, 2015, to Feb. 29, 2016, to the Washington State Department of Revenue.
Erik E. Foreman, doing business as Foreman Construction, Davenport, must pay $3,509 in taxes owed for the fourth quarter of 2015 to the Washington State Department of Revenue.

New Criminal Cases
Lola Jean Wilson, 60, Davenport, is charged with three counts each of residential burglary (domestic violence) and violating a domestic violence protection order in connection with incidents May 21-22 at a residence in the 1000 block of Thirteenth Street in Davenport that prompted deputies to begin an assault investigation.
Lisa Ann Wilson (Ginn), 54, Davenport, is charged with second-degree identity theft, unlawful attempt to obtain financial information, first-degree criminal impersonation and second-degree theft in connection with about $500 of transactions with another individual’s bank card between May 4 and 14.
Urie Levi Lambert, 41, Arlington, Wash., is charged with possession of methamphetamine in connection with a March 3 traffic stop on Old Coulee Road near Williams Road East.
Ashley Megan Welch, 27, Reardan, is charged with possession of hydrocodone in connection with a Feb. 27 incident at a residence in the 300 block of North Lake Street in Reardan.
Shidell Denise Sorlien, 39, Odessa, is charged with third-degree assault of a child in connection with a June 3 incident that resulted in a 6-year-old boy needing treatment at Lincoln Hospital in Davenport for welts on his back that authorities believe were caused by being beaten with a belt.
New Juvenile Offender Matter
A 17-year-old Grand Coulee boy is charged with second-degree rape in connection with what authorities describe as forcible compulsion sexual intercourse with a 17-year-old girl that allegedly occurred on June 5. A hearing to determine whether the matter should be transferred into adult court is scheduled on June 28.

Jennifer R. Huffman seeks a settlement against James P. Lawson, of Davenport, in a matter involving an alleged $7,289.80 unpaid obligations for a vehicle and insurance.
