Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
The Early Learning Action Alliance has selected Rep. Tom Dent, R-Moses Lake, to receive an Early Learning Emerging Leader Award. The Alliance presents awards to legislators every two years to highlight the importance of legislative leadership in the area of early learning.
In a note to the representative, the group’s policy director Jennifer Jennings-Shaffer said Dent’s “commitment to advancing policies and funding early learning over the past two years has been crucial for Washington’s children and families.”
Dent serves as the assistant ranking member of the House Early Learning and Human Services Committee. He also serves on the Early Learning Advisory Council.
“I’m truly grateful to the Early Learning Action Alliance for this award,” said Dent. “The well-being of children is incredibly important to me, so having the opportunity to work with my colleagues to develop effective early-learning programs is a privilege. I look forward to continuing the important work of ensuring our young people have a strong foundation and the needed skills for success in school and in life.”
The Alliance is a broad coalition of organizations representing a diverse array of Washington nonprofits, professional associations and businesses. The organization believes all children in Washington state deserve to have the opportunities and support they need in their first five years of life to be prepared for school and a bright future.
