Tragedy at farm near Lind

On August 24, Ritzville EMS and Adams County Deputies were dispatched to a farm accident where an eight-year-old boy had been run over by a tractor. At the time of the call, the boy was unresponsive. Adams County Dispatch provided the boy’s father with CPR procedures.

The location of the accident was in a farm field approximately a half mile north of Lind on Wahl Road.

Deputies arrived on scene and found the deceased boy lying next to the left rear track of the Case International Harvester 485 Quadtrac. The boy had suffered severe head trauma.

The father, who is the only witness to the incident, told deputies he had slowed the tractor to allow his son to climb up to the cab. The boy lost his footing on first step and fell to the ground in front of the rear track. The tractor continued forward and the rear track went over the boy.

The body was removed by Danekas Funeral Home. The Adams County Coroner determined that there would not be an autopsy.
