Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
The junior-high Titan football team has had a great start to the 8-man football season with a 2-0 record so far. Their first game was a 14-point win against ACH with a final score of 27-13. Then following that with a 47 point win against Entiat, the final score being 74-27.
So, imagine my surprise when I opened my in-box to find something slightly different from Coach Larry Weber. Instead of a rundown of the game, the great plays that were made and a bunch of statistics, I found a message focusing on the positive improvements being made on both offense and defense, along with certain areas in which players are strong and doing a good job of completing the plays. An email full of positives.
So this week’s article will not be a rundown of the two games that were played. Instead, it will focus on the positive areas that have been and still are taking place in practice and on the field during games.
Below are comments from Coach Weber. I felt the boys should have the opportunity to read what positive things their coach had to say. You never know when even the smallest thing can make a huge impact on a person.
“During practice, the offense is working on execution and maintaining blocks until the whistle. The defense is working on rallying to the football and having each player perform his assignment every snap.
Running backs Pilot Weishaar and Drew Hardung are running the ball hard and making good cuts following the blocks. Linemen Colton Messer, Bradly Singer and Tim DeWulf are doing excellent jobs of creating holes and protecting quarterback Jett Nelson.
As quarterback, Jett is making good decisions and completing passes to the open receivers.”
On Thursday, September 29, the junior-high Titans take on Waterville/Mansfield in Harrington at 4 p.m. The following week, they hit the road along with the high-school team, for a game against Pateros at 4 p.m. on Friday, October 7.
