The Halloween Carnival held Monday, October 31, at the Odessa Community Center drew plenty of well-costumed children and adults. The FFA chapter at Odessa High sponsored the event. In addition to games of skill in which participants could win tickets that could be exchanged for prizes, the attendees could also grab dinner in the form of hamburgers, cheeseburgers and hot dogs, along with water, soda pop and chips.
New police chief Tom Clark, whose daughter Jordan is a member of FFA, was manning the grill, while other parents and students took orders and restocked the condiments and other supplies. The event ran until 6:30 p.m., and then kids made the rounds of neighborhood homes to go "trick or treating."
The weather was breezy and quite cool, but rain that had threatened earlier in the day did not materilize that evening.
