Darlene Yvonne Edens
Darlene Edens died August 14, 2017, at Lincoln Hospital in Davenport at the age of 77. Her home was in Odessa.
She was born in Seattle October 6, 1939, to George and Peggy (Holms) Sanislo. She graduated from Issaquah High School in 1958 and received a B.S. degree from Central Washington University in 1991 as an executive secretary. She worked as a clerk for the Upper Kittitas District Court and for the hospital district in CleElum prior to managing the Woodgate Apartment complex in Marysville together with her husband David Edens. After moving to Odessa, she worked for the Odessa Police Department and the Odessa Trading Company.
During her working life and even following her retirement from the work force, Darlene volunteered her time variously as a hospice worker and museum guide in CleElum, with the Hospital Guild and Library Board in Odessa in addition to tutoring elementary students and participating in many community affairs also in Odessa.
She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, dancing, reading, crocheting and spending time with family.
She is preceded in death by her father and stepmother, George and Dorothy Sanislo and her mother and stepfather Peggy and Marvin Krebs.
She is survived by her husband David Edens of Odessa; her daughters Debbie Lanphere of Kennewick, Dora Bannister (Greg) of South CleElum and Dana Matthews (Steve) of Ellensburg; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; her brothers George (Donny) Sanislo, Art Keighly, Rick Sanislo and Tom Sanislo and one sister Kathy Hitchcock.
Services will be held Saturday, August 26, at noon at Christ Lutheran Church in Odessa with Pastor Mickael Birnbaum officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one's charity of choice. Smart Cremation is responsible for final arrangements.
