Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
Wheatland Theatre Company will hold auditions for it’s upcoming production of “It’s a Wonderful
Life: A Live Radio Play” on Friday, Oct 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church.
The play will be performed at four locations throughout Lincoln County in December, including a performance at the Odessa Old Town Hall on December 9.
The play follows a group of actors in a 1940s radio station as they present the classic story of “It’s A Wonderful Life” as a live radio drama broadcast. The production will feature a set, costumes, and theatrical lighting. Because of the unique nature of the show, no line memorization is needed and limited rehearsals are required, making this the perfect opportunity for anyone to try their hand onstage. The play will be directed by Jerry Sciarrio, a Spokane theater veteran who has been a mainstay as an actor and director at Spokane Civic Theatre and Spokane Children’s Theatre, among others.
Rehearsals will be held in Davenport during the month of November. There will be approximately two rehearsals per week on evenings or weekends, with no rehearsals on Thanksgiving weekend. Mileage reimbursement and carpooling are available.
“We’re so excited to double-down on our commitment to serve all of Lincoln County this year,” said Artistic Director Karen Brewster, “so we hope to see lots of people at the auditions from every community in our area.”
Additional audition sessions are scheduled at Reardan Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m .; in the Davenport High School band room on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 8 p.m .; and in the Wilbur School multipurpose room on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m.
No preparation is required for the auditions, which will mostly consist of reading from the script.
Adults and young people over age 16 who are interested in auditioning can sign up at WheatlandTheatre.org or by calling 509-721-0285.
