Harrington senior meals offered to wide audience

The Harrington Senior Meals Program is actively seeking not only new seniors to dine but younger folks as well. Family, friends, business people or anyone wishing to enjoy a complete nutritious meal at noon are invited to attend.

Dave Michaelson, retired chef, has assumed the helm of the center's meals program. The dining room has plenty of space for many more guests.

The suggested donation for folks 60 years of age or older is $3.50, and the cost for younger folks is $8 (where else can you get a complete balanced meal for $8?).

Michaelson brings many years of culinary experience to the table. His critically-acclaimed restaurant, Cozy Cafe, in Whatcom County received the best food review ever given a restaurant, and he won a Gold Medal in a Chef-only cooking contest. He is a former Odessa resident and during the 1980s cooked at the old Linker's Inn, where he specialized in fine Italian fare.

The Harrington dining facility and kitchen is located in the Memorial Hall at 8 South Third Street, right in the middle of historical Harrington and next door to the newly opened Post & Office, where espresso, smoothies, coffee and various baked victuals are offered.

Dining schedule: Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at noon.

Michaelson says he knows that Odessa has its own senior center and meals program, but he hopes that perhaps some curious gourmands will want to try Harrington's offerings.
