Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!

Editorial

The staff of The Odessa Record would like to thank our readers for their loyalty over the past year, their patience in dealing with late papers now and then and the many kind words and compliments from so many of you. Although we sometimes feel that our role as the voice of Odessa is being usurped by Facebook, we have heard from many, many people that they do not want The Record to disappear. We would certainly like to retire one of these days, but we need to find someone to take over who will do justice to our small town and its history. Anyone out there with journalistic experience, writing expertise or the like should give us a call to talk about the future of the paper.

Regarding the past three weeks in which papers have gone out late to the chagrin of many of you, the holidays that fell on Monday put a time crunch on us that we were unable to overcome. The week after the New Year dawned, cold and flu came to our office with a vengeance, and we are still recuperating. If you don’t receive your January 11 paper this week, give us a call or come by The Record office and pick up a copy gratis.

Another issue with the Monday holidays is that it gets people used to getting advertising copy to us on Tuesdays instead of Mondays. Our deadline is Mondays at 5 p.m. If Monday is a holiday, please get it to us by Friday or Saturday of the previous week. Send it by email if you can. If you can’t come to the office or we are not in the office, and you want to drop it off in person, please call and leave us a message.
