Town Council

The Odessa Town Council met February 14 at noon for a special meeting to take care of business for which it did not have a quorum at the previous Monday’s regularly scheduled meeting. The first order of business was to approve requests made Monday by Steve Nelson of Century West Engineering in Spokane to submit an application for a USDA loan and to begin advertising for bids for the Federal Emergency Management Agency roadway work to be gin as soon as the weather permits.

The council approved Ordinance 693 for the town of Odessa amending sections 13.04.175 charges for changing billing name and 13.08.150.M change in billing name of the Odessa Municipal Code, to specify that the charge will apply to new utility accounts only.

The council acknowledged that proof of insurance for events held in properties of the Town of Odessa must name the town as an additional insured prior to renting town properties.

Also approved were the temporary living arrangements for Mr. and Mrs. Clay Gordon on their property while their home is being rebuilt following a fire and a request by Gerry King to install an upright stone at the Odessa Cemetery in a section where such upright stones already exist.

The request from the Odessa Public Development Authority that the council study proposed revisions to the utility agreements for the Odessa Industrial Park and then change the names on utility billing statements from the OPDA to that of the purchaser once purchases of facilities within the industrial park have become final was approved.

Jim Hains announced that he would also be submitting a letter of interest for the open council position, joining Joyce McNeil, Kaylene James, Amy Hunt and Michael Igo, who will all be interviewed by the council members at the regularly scheduled meeting on February 26 at 7 p.m. The council will then discuss the candidates in executive session and then return to the open meeting to vote on their selection for appointment to the council.
