To the Editor:
I support Sylvia Hammond’s campaign for the District 13 seat in the State House in Olympia. She has been involved in farming and teaching her whole life—both honorable professions. She understands the multitude of difficulties involved with agriculture and water rights, and the critical importance of quality education. Her firsthand experience is invaluable in dealing with these complex problems.
I have to question the incumbent Matt Manweller’s qualifications to work in the State House. He tweeted “Way to go Tennessee” when that state considered allowing immunity for drivers who run down protesters. He introduced a bill to privatize Evergreen State College. (He told me the students were being indoctrinated—but he never explained what the indoctrination was about.) He tweeted that “$0 would be the perfect minimum wage.” Add to all this, his vote to exempt legislators from the Public Records Law and we’ve got a pretty kooky politician representing us. I don’t think he represents anyone except himself.
I much prefer a Representative imbued with common sense and concern for others. Sylvia Hammond cares about and respects all of us living in the 13th District. She will work for us.
