Editor’s note: Most items in this section reflect the starting point for response by local police and emergency agencies. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column.

Monday, Aug. 13: Davenport ambulance personnel assisted a 70-year-old woman who fell and may have broken an ankle.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe personnel dealt with a malfunctioning railroad crossing signal at Doerschlag and Max Harder roads near Sprague.

A caller reported fishing equipment was stolen from a boat on property in the 2200 block of Pine Court at Seven Bays.

Responding to separate reports, deputies determined that breaks in the fence allowed cattle to escape from properties adjacent to Telecky and Old Kucks roads.

A deputy handled a problem involving a teenage Davenport boy who had taken a firearm without his parent’s permission.

Lincoln Hospital personnel advised dispatchers that one of the patients, a 59-year-old woman, left the hospital against medical advice. She was subsequently located and returned to the facility.

A Sprague caller reported the theft of a lawnmower, bookshelves and other items from a residence in the 300 block of East Walnut.

Deputies checked out a report that a skateboard had been stolen from in front of Sprague City Hall.

A Sprague man told dispatchers his trick had been vandalized while parked in the 100 block of East 5th.

A collision involving a vehicle and deer took place on U.S. 2 just west of the weigh scales between Davenport and Reardan. In a separate report, another collision involving deer occurred on SR 28 just south of Harrington. No injuries were reported from either incident.

Tuesday, Aug. 14: A Davenport woman reported her debit card had been fraudulently used in Las Vegas after information had been apparently stolen at Two Rivers.

A report that a child may have been assaulted at the I-90 Sprague rest area was referred to the Washington State Patrol.

Sprague firefighters provided assistance to Adams County personnel involved with a large and rapidly growing brush fire.

A Davenport woman told dispatchers she was trying to calm down her son who she described as “upset due to not being able to drive the car” but didn’t need intervention from law enforcement or emergency medical personnel.

Davenport Family Foods personnel were uneasy about an asphalt truck and trailer using the store’s north parking lot as a possible staging area.

A caller reported a vehicle was stolen from property adjacent to Paradise Lane North near Davenport.

A Davenport caller told dispatchers she believes someone tried to get into a residence in the 400 block of Ross Street during the night.

Deputies investigated “suspicious” individuals a caller observed in a horse pasture adjacent to SR 21 in the Wilbur and Keller area.

A Davenport caller requested assistance for a woman he believed was having a mental breakdown and might need hospital care.

Deputies responding to the 44100 block of Miles Road North investigated a report that a man had pulled a knife on another man during a dispute about owed rent money. They determined the incident was verbal only and no arrests were made.

A Davenport man reported the theft of a trolling motor from a boat in the 1300 block of Morgan Street.

Odessa Police responded to a report of an assault involving a man and woman at the local RV park.

Wednesday, Aug. 15: Responding to a report from the 400 block of NE Cliff, Wilbur firefighters found no indication of an electrical fire involving a clothes dryer.

A request for information about legally removing badgers from property at the Northridge neighborhood of Davenport was forwarded to the local state Fish and Wildlife officer.

A Sprague caller phoned in her suspicions about a man with long curly hair and wearing a baseball cap she saw getting out of his car and picking up a duffel bag from a ditch along the Old Sprague Highway. A responding deputy wasn’t able to find the car or its driver.

A caller requested assistance after he saw two pickup trucks drive around equipment and a machine shop in the vicinity of Rosman and Rux roads in the Creston area.

A caller advised dispatchers of sparks coming from a dragging chain on a van pulling a camp trailer on SR 28 near Harrington.

Thursday, Aug. 16: A lengthy electrical outage interrupted business and residential activity in Reardan.

A caller reported receiving a scam IRS call.

A caller reported a break-in at a cabin adjacent to Porcupine Bay Road. She said her neighbors told her they saw someone walking around inside the day before.

Davenport ambulance personnel were involved in providing to CPR to a 66-year-old man, a resident of Osprey Road in Deer Meadows, who subsequently died. A LifeFlight aerial ambulance was unable to launch because of weather issues.

A collision involving two vehicles was reported in the Davenport Safeway parking lot.

A grain truck was involved in a two-vehicle collision at Twelfth and Jefferson streets in Davenport.

Davenport firefighters extinguished a truck fire at Third Street and Fitness Lane in Davenport.

Friday, Aug. 17: Deputies investigated a report of a possible sexual offense in the Davenport area.

Someone punctured three holes in the hydraulic lines of a combine parked in a field adjacent to Old Coulee Highway about a half-mile south of Douglas Road.

Despite the valiant efforts of neighbors administering CPR after finding him on the ground in the 0 block of Marshall Street, a 78-year-old Davenport man with past heart problems died.

Personnel at the Counseling Center in Davenport reported receiving harassing phone calls loaded with “all kinds of names and profanities.”

Farmers and firefighters alike responded to a fire in a wheat field adjacent to Denny Station Road between Gravelle and Jannett roads in northeastern Lincoln County. Some residents of the area were evacuated as a perimeter was established around the flames. Structure damage was limited and no one was reported hurt.

A caller reported someone is breaking windows on a shop in the vicinity of Omans and Spinning roads near Davenport.

A deputy assisted a woman who had locked her keys inside a vehicle parked outside the Davenport Safeway store.

A Davenport caller told dispatchers that items inside a residence in the 500 block of Main Street were broken during a verbal dispute. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the incident.

A caller said he observed vehicles involved in the paving project on Hawk Creek Road being recklessly driven and taking a corner near Gunning Road “way too fast.”

After her husband phoned in concern that she hadn’t yet returned to their Davenport home after a trip to Spokane, she called dispatchers to let them know she was back and was fine.

A resident of Porcupine Bay Road told dispatchers he planned to sue neighbors whose dogs barked continuously.

Deputies could find nothing out of the ordinary at a home along Magnison Road in the Edwall area, despite a caller’s report of hearing footsteps and someone breathing outside a window.

A caller told Reardan Police of her concerns about a man who hung out at the town park for five hours, drinking water. A responding officer confirmed he was just passing through the area and was waiting for a ride to show up as expected.

Saturday, Aug. 18: Davenport ambulance personnel and Reardan EMTs helped an elderly woman who had fallen and was locked inside a restroom at the Audubon Lake wildlife refuge north of town.

Three county jail inmates were placed on lockdown status after hiding food and pencils in their cells.

A resident of Whispering Pines Loop advised dispatchers that a former girlfriend refused to leave his house.

A semi-truck and trailer with a full load of woodchips turned over onto its side after trying to avoid an animal on SR 231 about 10 miles north of Reardan and began to leak oil. Two deputies and the Washington State Patrol responded.

A deputy patrolling on Swanson Lakes Road near Creston requested assistance with low tire pressure on his vehicle. He subsequently got a new tire for the rear passenger side.

A man was placed into custody after deputies responded to a report of a domestic assault in the 400 block of West 5th Street in Sprague.

Tools were stolen and other “strange” items left behind during a burglary at a residence in the 60 block of Marshall Street in Davenport.

The operator of a motorcycle clocked at speeds over 100 mph on I-90 was cited by a deputy for reckless driving after making a traffic stop on Williams Lake Road.

Reardan Police responded to a report that decorative rock was being removed from a yard in the 600 block of East Cottonwood Avenue.

Sunday, Aug. 19: Sprague ambulance personnel were sent to the vicinity of SR 23 and Swannack Road where a person was observed laying on the side of the roadway.

A deputy provided an escort for a tow truck hauling an airplane from Seven Bays Airport to the Davenport Airport.

A vehicle reported stolen from Spokane was recovered with its hood up in the 100 block of East 1st in Sprague.

A resident of Hawk Creek Ranch Road reported a generator valued at about $290 was stolen from a cabin.

Davenport ambulance personnel transported a 20-year-old man having a seizure from the 25700 block of Calvert Road North to Lincoln Hospital.

A Wilbur caller requested a deputy’s help after encountering trespassers “messing with” horses on property adjacent to SR 21N.

A vehicle sustained front-end damage after colliding with a deer on U.S. 2 in Creston.

Aug. 15: Aaron Kyle Timm, 35, Harrington, arrested by Reardan Police for driving while license suspended (habitual traffic offender) and an ignition interlock violation.

Aug. 17: Christopher Ryan Baber, 33, Cheney, arrested by LCSO for driving under the influence.

Eric Ankerson Rice, 36, Spokane, serving a one-day court commitment for driving under the influence and an out-of-state misdemeanor charge.
