Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
(Davenport, WA January 25, 2019.) Tourism opportunities are top-of-mind for the Lincoln County Economic Development Council as plans for a 2019 promotion schedule are finalized. This is the tenth year that the Council will contract with the county to act as the Lincoln County Visitor & Convention Bureau, during which steady, year-after-year growth in tourism has been realized with only a few exceptions. Tourism is an important sector of the county’s economy. The EDC’s target is out-of-county tourists and their discretionary income; inviting them to visit and spend money at motels, restaurants, retailers, gas stations and
real estate offices.
Lincoln County Commissioners have approved a proposal for the coming year and have approved reimbursement to the EDC for up to $26,100 in marketing receipts to support it. Some plans for the coming year include distribution of rack cards at rest areas on I-5 and I-90; advertising in The Inlander during big events such as Bloomsday and Hoop Fest; featuring outdoor recreational opportunities in Out There Magazine and the Desert 100 event guide and placing ads in the Dept. of Fish & Wildlife’s fishing and hunting pamphlets. There will also be a new 30-second commercial on TV and social media. Of the $26,100 total, $5,000 will go to the Lincoln County Fair and fairgrounds for event and facility promotion.
The funding administered by the EDC comes from a portion of the sales tax collected on lodging stays that are under 30 days. Lincoln County receives the tax from services provided in our unincorporated areas only, the majority from tax collected at campgrounds, vacation rental homes and Lake Roosevelt Adventures houseboat rentals.
Joyce Mings administers tourism promotion and social media for the EDC office and encourages those involved in local events to share information with her so she can help promote the event. She also has rack cards available for motels and restaurants. If interested, contact Joyce and she will get them to you. Joyce is available Monday through Wednesday at 509-368-7085 and at Joyce@LincolnEDC.org.
