On Wednesday, January 30, the Odessa Tigers battled the Prescott Tigers. As we have come to expect of this 2019 team, the Tigers dominated the game, winning 83 to 59.

Ryan “The Machine” Moffet was the point leader once more with an outstanding total of 54 points in the game. Jett Nelson and Tim Dewulf were next in line with 8 points each followed by Marcus King with 6, Camden Weber with 3 and Eric Johnston and Lane Lobe each with 2 points.

Tim DeWulf led the team in rebounds with a total of 10. The team had a total of 33 rebounds in the game with 22 assists and 11 steals. The Tigers always do a prodigious job of working together. Which is why they have lost only one game this season.

On Saturday, February 2, the Tigers took on the Wilbur-Creston Wildcats in Creston. No surprise to this lady, the Tigers beat the Wildcats 66 to 43.

Part of the reason the Tigers do so well every game is that their field goal percentages are high. The Tigers range from 38 to 72 percent, with a team average of 58 percent and an average of 52 field goals per game. One of the leaders in field goal averages is Ryan Moffet with an average of 32.8 points per game and a 65 percent field goal average.

The other thing that makes the Tigers stand out is the crazy number of rebounds that they get. This season so far, the Tigers have 628 rebounds, 363 assists and 347 steals. The Tigers are well above the national average.

District playoffs begin this week, followed by the District Tournament in Deer Park on the consecutive Saturdays of February 9 and 16.
