Participants young and old, large and small, gathered at Finney Field last Sunday evening for grilled burgers and hot dogs, potluck side dishes and desserts, as well as a rousing game of softball, all organized by the Odessa Community Ministerial Association. The large black rain cloud that threatened to put a damper on the gathering ultimately moved northeastward toward Lamona, and the game continued without interruption. Cell towers north of Odessa weren't so lucky, and much of Monday was spent restoring cellular service to mobile phone users in the surrounding areas.
