Football Tigers shut out Liberty Bell in the Sausage Bowl

The Liberty Bell Mountain Lions of Winthrop, Wash.faced the Odessa Tigers in last Friday’s Sausage Bowl. This cat fight went in favor of the striped Tigers, as they allowed not a single TD against them. Odessa’s QBs Camden Weber, Jett Nelson and Collin Martin directed play and kept the Tigers marching downfield.

Joshua Clark led the team in total yards gained with 94, with 46 rushing and 48 receiving. Freshman Anthony Elder followed with a total of 72 yards rushing. Daeton Deife had 55.

Clark led in scoring with three touchdowns and 18 points. Nelson had two TDs for 12 points and with six points for one TD each were Elder, Chase Kissler and Gage Starkel. Marcus King scored six points on three two-point conversions. Brady Walter and Jakob Starkel scored two points each on two-point conversions.

Deife was this week’s Mr. Defense with six solo tackles and three assists. Gage Starkel and Joshua Valverde each had four solo tackles and two assists, and King had four solo tackles.

The Tigers play Pateros today, Thursday, September 26, at home for their second conference match-up.
