Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
DAVENPORT- Senior Kadee Sweetland put on a talent show for her senior project. Saturday, Feb.8, seven separate acts took to the stage in the high school auditorium to perform for the crowd and a panel of judges.
"Seniors do a project to involve the community, either helping, serving, or giving back to our community," Sweetland said "It is also a requirement to graduate."
The first two contestants, wearing matching cowgirl outfits, danced together before leaping from the stage at the end of their number.
Three contestants sang solos. One sang "Lost Boy" by Ruth B., another sang "Ocean Eyes" by Billie Elish, and the final singer performed a version of "How Deep is Your Love."
One contestant gave a dramatic monologue about drunk driving. Two contestants performed instrumental pieces, one on violin and one on piano.
Ayden Rinaldi was the judges' choice for best performance and was the talent show winner.
When asked why she chose a talent show for her senior project, Sweetland said, "because I felt like Davenport needed a fun event that gave the community freedom to show off what they can do, and what talents that they have passion for."
"I honestly didn't realize how big of an impact this would make when working on this project," Sweetland said, " From doing this project, I've learned that even the smallest idea can impact so many people and make a good impact."
Sweetland plans to continue her education at Spokane Community College.
