6th Graders talk to the local pros, learning about careers and business
On Thursday, January 30th Davenport High School FBLA members, and American Enterprise Project co-chairs Kylee Buchanan, Tate Foster-Nonnemacher, and Allison Jorden hosted a number of local business professionals who were interviewed by Davenport Middle School 6th graders along with high school FBLA members about their careers, exposing students to the variety of career and business opportunities located in our own Davenport community. Leading up to the interviews, DHS FBLA members taught about the basic principles of the American Enterprise System and a series of business concepts to the 6th graders. Following the interviews, the 6th graders then prepared to open their own mini-business, selling a product or service of their choosing. On Tuesday, February 11th the 6th graders’ businesses opened for sales as part of a “Business Fair” where elementary, middle, and high school students visited each business. DHS FBLA would like to thank all the community business professionals who participated in the event, the 6th grade teachers, and all the 6th graders for their hard work developing such creative and innovative businesses.
