Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
As the entire world is aware of the recent spread of COVID-19 which is affecting our nation and beyond. We are all having to cope with the stresses and unknowns that face each and every one of us. I would like to assure you that our Sheriff’s Office staff including our dispatch, corrections, road deputies, support staff and administrative team is ready and prepared to do our duties as expected. Although no one knows how long this will last or the severity of the impact, I want to assure you that we are continuing to do our jobs and are taking action to mitigate as many foreseeable situations as we can.
I had a meeting with our Board of County Commissioners, Public Health Officer, Elected Officials, and representatives of Lincoln Hospital and the School Districts. We have all pulled together and have made several decisions that we feel are best for our citizens, students and staff that we represent. I ask that everyone remain calm and follow the advice of the experts. Please wash your hands and practice all safety measures that the professionals have provided. Lincoln County residents are very resilient and capable of taking care of ourselves. We also know to check on our friends and neighbors.
It is important to continue to shop local and responsible. If we have a shortage, know it will be temporary and not to panic. We have the ability to help our friends and neighbors much better than larger counties and cities and I know we will do just that. It’s important to realize that information on the news is important, but also can be sensationalized, resulting in misinformation and undue stress. Consider limiting your time on social media and constant news feeds and remember to check the sources of the information you are receiving.
The Sheriff’s Office has been and will continue to be here to help. Please do not hesitate to call if we can be of any assistance. We will do our very best to maintain full access to the services we provide.
In an attempt to lighten the mood and bring a small sense of humor to this tense situation we are asking the following:
“Due to local cases of COVID-19, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is asking all criminal activities and nefarious behavior to cease. We appreciate your anticipated cooperation in halting crime & thank all the criminals in advance. We will certainly let you know when you can resume your normal criminal behavior.
Until then.... wash your hands and behave yourself.
We are a strong and resilient people, residing in one of, if not the best counties in the state. I know we will work together to ensure we continue to be the best county in the state.
