Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!

People for people ride service still operating

DAVENPORT—Despite Gov. Jay Inlee’s order that Washington residents stay at home, essential travel is still allowed. Lincoln County residents who rely on People For People rides for transportation will still be able to use the service during the shelter-in-place directive.

People For People provides—among other services— city-to-city transportation in Washington. Though the organization's website says that all locations are closed, this refers to its offices, which provide other services.

People For People mobility manager Rosenda Henley says transportation is not affected by the closures.

“We are considered essential. We are still providing transportation services.” Henley said. “People still need to get around and some don’t have their own transportation or someone who can give them rides to get to the doctor or go grocery shopping. So we are there to provide that service.”

Henley says extra safety precautions are currently in place.

“Our drivers have hand sanitizers and Kleenex travel packs on board to offer to their passengers,” Henley said. “We have also stocked our buses with Clorox wipes and Lysol spray for our drivers to use.”

Schedules can be found on People For People’s website, PFP.org. Routes that provide service in Lincoln County include Route 101, which connects Davenport, Creston, Wilbur, Grand Coulee and Coulee Dam. Route 107 connects Wilbur and Moses Lake while 108 connects Wilbur and Spokane.
