Workgroup to discuss Columbia River salmon issues

OLYMPIA — The Columbia River Salmon Fishery Policy Workgroup will host a virtual public meeting May 27 to review the state Fish and Wildlife Commission’s policy on Columbia River basin salmon management.

The workgroup will meet from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 27.

The meeting will be conducted via webinar in accordance with the coronavirus quarantine ordered by Gov. Jay Inslee.

The public will be able to participate in the meeting online.

The meeting will be recorded and posted online later for those unable to attend the webinar.

The workgroup will hear testimony, including suggestions for allocating the recreational harvest of spring Chinook between different regions in the basin.

The Columbia River Salmon Fishery Policy Workgroup is charged with making recommendations to the full Fish and Wildlife Commission.
