Serving Lincoln County for more than a century!
The Davenport Ministerial Alliance will once again be providing weekend food packages for students in the Davenport School District who have a need this fall. Each package contains enough nutritional, ready-to-eat or easy to prepare food for a weekend.
Students who wish to receive these packages will need to complete a form which is available at the elementary school office. This program is intended for students on free or reduced lunch; however, anyone may participate.
This program is a coordinated effort with the ministerial alliance and the Second Harvest Foodbank. Participating local churches include Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport Presbyterian Church, Davenport Methodist Church, Harvest Celebration Church and Trinity Bible Fellowship.
This program is funded by donations from the participating churches and individuals. The program is currently working to secure funds to cover the costs for the 2020-2021 school year. The cost to support one child for the year is $180, which provides a package of food each weekend throughout the school year. The program is looking for annual sponsors but will accept any donation amount.
The need is great this year, the pandemic cancelled regular community worship, from which the offering went to help fund this program.
