PROMOTIONS UNDERWAY FOR SERVICE MEN IN THE GULF
The owner of a local grocery store is hoping the community will embrace an idea for the holidays that they have taken to heart. Christmas will not be the same this year for several families in the area as they likely will be separated many miles from relatives over in the Persian Gulf participating in Desert Shield. Star Foodland owners Terry and Deb Everts intend to make sure these people are specially remembered this holiday season and are seeking support from other Davenport businesses and residents.
The Evert are asking each business to dedicate a window or door to those oversea and decorate the area in yellow. Both Davenport pharmacies already have ordered extra yellow decorations for this project, Deb Evert said, and Northwest Creations will have yellow ribbon available for bows.
