Dent, Barkdull leading in Lincoln County

Both candidates handily topping over competitor

DAVENPORT — On the Lincoln County voters’ ballot, two spots were being heavily watched during the 2020 general election.

Rep. Tom Dent, R-Moses Lake, will likely retain his 13th Legislative District seat for two more years.

The incumbent legislator leads with 69 percent of the vote district-wide over Democrat challenger Eduardo Castañeda-Díaz of Quincy.

County voters are also backing Jeff Barkdull, who currently serves as Lincoln County prosecuting attorney, to replace retiring Lincoln County Superior Court Judge John Strohmaier.

The initial tally showed Barkdull with 68 percent of the overall vote. Barkdull ran against current Lincoln County District Court Judge Dan Johnson who received 30 percent of the vote as of election night.

Late-arriving votes will be counted in the coming days.
